Your Primary Race?

Recommended Posts

Personally I would say my Primary Race is the Race for Life  . Oh you are talking human races - Heinz 57 myself. Mainly English, Scottish, German, US.Penn German ( maybe some French in there too ), who knows, who cares.

My wife now -US German ( - maybe originally Danish - and  William of Orange line ), Irish_Missouri Mule, and possibly Lakota Sioux - records were changed & falsified for her grandmother - they claimed she was Germanic - but 2 of my wife's late aunts sure looked NA native. :indian:

Consciousness, that annoying time between naps!

Funny I never thought about it till now but in the new world, we may know what nationalities we descended from but I doubt very much it will ever make a difference to anyone! The reasons people asks those questions today will be gone in the new world. And for the first time, that one line in the U.S. Pledge of Alligance will be true - we will truly be "one nation under God". I wonder if we will get a new name in the new world? Will we still need to be called "Jehovah's Witnesses" at that time? Yes, we will be witnesses for Jehovah for a while into the new world when we will still be teaching those resurrected but after we reach perfection and all on earth worship only Jehovah, perhaps that name will be dropped completely? Or even before that it might be dropped or changed. Just a thought!

Don't live for the moment - live for the future! :D

That is so true sis. Yet, here is the funny part!! Many who are white going to find out that their ancestors were dark skinned. Many who are black going to find out that their ancestors were light skinned. This will happen to many people of many differant races.

I know a sister who is black and she find out that some of her ancestors were white. Her family who not in the truth, don't want to hear it. Although I need to do some reseach on this, it is possible that some of my ancestors were dark skinned native americans (my GG grandmother might be dark skinned). Dark skin or not, some of my distant relatives don't want to hear it. They sit on their rocking chairs think they are 100 percent white or they want to escape reality.

I'm glad Jehovah made us this way. Plus, ones grandparents, etc; do not always determine what color your skin is too. It is ones gene tell you what color of yor skin will be. So this would mean, if your GGGGG grandfather was black and his wife was white and it was hidden. Through the years many of his descendants came out light skinned in which that is awesome. However, what makes it more awesome is that one of their GGGGG grandchild came out black. This really throws a wrench into a white family that didn't know that one of their ancestor was black. The beauty your your own gene.

Consider .... did Noah actually have three different color children? Is it possible that, in addition to wondering if their child would be male or female, they also were in anticipation of the color of the skin in the pre-flood era? That it was "normal" for ALL families to have mixed color families?

My thought exactly: the Race for Life is the primary one.

According to my surname, my origins are from Germanic tribes, vis Norse, to Normandy in France and then to England with the Norman invasion, but I consider myself English. After 1000 years I think it unimportant.

When people ask me questions like that, I usually respond with: Why do you ask?

Why do people ask now is that they suppose to keep records. But, what is their motive behind it, I don't know. What I do know is at times they want to keep inaccurate records.

It's an awkward question when it appears on a form, but sometimes I may just decline to answer. It depends on the type of form.

in person, I may ask something like: Would I get preferential treatment if I give certain answers?

Funny and true story (in line with Musky's joke). With my first home purchase in rural Ohio my wife and I went to a mortgage broker and sought out a loan for that home. We got it. When we went there to finish the paperwork at his office, the form was checked 'white' in the race category! Lol My wife and I joked about it at the time and let it go. My picture shows me to be a light skinned black man (my father is extremely fair skinned but black or afro American).

It is what it is. ☺

Being Scottish and Irish, I am very white, but prefer dark beer.  It's all very confusing.

LOL!!  I'm Irish too, perhaps Scot-Irish if I go further back. What is sad, basically I made same post (about being a mix race) on a geneology web site twice and someone took it off. And no rules was not broken. It was just the facts sis.

 Enjoy your dark beer. :drink:

on the subject of race I have found that when you are JW that is what the world will primary see you as once it's made known to them.

In my early twenties I worked on the buildings and grounds crew at a power plant. I was the only black person and only JW on the crew. once when I was in a truck with a group of guys we had to go out the guard gate to do some work. There was a somewhat attractive white young lady guard. They gave her a really bad time saying "pick up lines " and sexually suggestive things to her. I didn't say one word! The next day she filed a sexual harassment complaint with my employer. Guess who was called into the Supervisors office?

When asked if she could ID the guys harassing her she said "I don't know their names but one of them was black".

I was afraid I was going to be fired but the supervisor said we know you didn't do it because you don't act that way. He knew I was a witness and in fact didn't like it he also was a racist but he said "I knew the guard was lying when she said you were harassing her cause you just don't act that way"

I realized that he saw me more as JW then a black man.

That's encouraging Clint. There were many smiles in heaven because of your conduct. Jehovah, Jesus, 144,000 and rest of angels! ☺

I hope I didn't come across as saying that knowing we are JW will make racist people color blind. With some knowing that only gives them another reason to hate you. But one thing all people do take note of is actions. Often times how they feel about a whole race of people is based on the actions (good or bad) of a few. Of course there are may other reasons why some people are racist and the reasons are not something I personally care to go into.

As JW's we know the primary reason is they don't know Jehovah. For some this is by choice for others we pray every day that Jehovah will help us find and teach them. it's nice to know that sometimes our actions help them find us!

  • 2 weeks later...

You may choose whatever you like -- or nothing.  I will never select only one race on a form and I never have in nearly 50 years.

And while they "say" you're the race of your father...that only applies if your father is a minority (at least in the US).  Someone with a white father and minority mother does not usually get to be white... ;)
