Seven symptoms of evil from New Scientist magazine

The idea that evil is a disease is predicated on the observation that mass killers share some common traits:

Compulsive repetitive violence

Obsessive beliefs

Rapid desensitisation to violence

Flat emotional state

Separation of violence from everyday activities

Obedience to an authority

Perceiving group members as virtuous

Zeph 3:17 Jehovah your God is in the midst of you. As a mighty One, he will save. He will exult over you with rejoicing. He will become silent in his love. He will be joyful over you with happy cries....... Love it....a beautiful word picture.

 I have 5 or 6 of these.

Since 3 out of 7 of the list deal with violence, and you have 5 or 6 out of 7, I'm worried about you.

Phillipians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well-spoken-of, whatever things are virtuous, and whatever things are praiseworthy, continue considering these things.

Well, I am Obsessive about my beliefs

I am much more desensitisation to violence then when I was younger. It is everywhere!

I surely have Separated violence from everyday activities - so as to not be violent at all.

I exercise Obedience to an authority - God and all those he has appointed

I certainly perceive my brothers and sisters (group members) as virtuous

How many is that 5?

Describe "flat emotional state". Is it not getting angry or upset over perceived wrongs? Maybe that could make 6.

Jerry, you can test that "flat emotional state" one - just close your eyes and picture a world without bacon - are tears coming to your eyes? Are you getting angry and perhaps panicky? If so, I think you can cross that one off your list.

Don't live for the moment - live for the future! :D
