UK Company To Offer 'Period Leave' For Female Employees

One way to destigmatize menstrual periods may be to give women a week off every month. At least, that's what one British company hopes to achieve.

Well, I'm going to say this and this is not for or against this news.

 

Though I've never experienced such pain that it interfered with my every day activities, some women actually do. One reason is Endometriosis. I understand, from reading, that it is or could be, excruciating! 

 

But either way,  if this goes through in the UK, I just hope that the women don't take selfish advantage of it. If the company is serious, maybe they can require medical proof that the particular women has a serious problem with her period such as the above mentioned Endometriosis. If not, and the policy goes through, I can see a serious problem with some women taking undue advantage such as:

 

"Hey boss! I can't come in to work today. I got my period and it's killing me!" She chuckles because not only are her periods relatively painfree but...that particular day she doesn't even have her period!
