Those crazy American Drug Commercials

Recommended Posts

Have you seen some of those commercials  I mean really :glare:

  • First there were the  ones whose "side effects" often seemed to be worse than the ailment/problem they were supposed to help with 8-)
  • Next came ones that, not only had the odd side effects like above, but they can actually cause the very thing they are designed to cure (td)
  • Now there is the one that says "if you are allergic to Ford Motor Oil" you should not take it - what does motor oil have to do with anything? :shrugs:
  • The latest, and this one really cracks me up, has one where the guy says he was recently in the hospital and they gave him "Worf's Room" come on now, we all know that Worf is a fictitious character from a Sci-Fi story  so how could they have given him Worf's room? :wall:

What really kills me is, the drugs they advertised on the evening news LAST year, are the drugs mentioned in class action law suits on all those late night Law Firm ads THIS year.  :uhhuh:

And then there's this infamous line:  "If you or a loved one died while taking Xerelto (or whatever), you may be entitled to compensation." Huh.gif  Huh?!  Kind a' hard to contact the lawyers or be compensated when you're six feet under.:(

Does social life count?

There was a drug last year,  it was for dietary issues,  one of the side effects was 'may cause uncontrollable greasy discharge '.. eww.

There is a YouTube video of a reporter during a live, on camera interview with a gentleman,  at his house -- in white pants. ..'nuff said. .

We used to have a commercial in our area (I live in the "Orthopedic Captial of the World") for a class action lawsuit against one of the companies here that make hip implants named DePuy (pronounced "Dee-Pew").  The lawyer who did this commercial should of done some fact checking first, he kept pronounced the hip implant as a "Dee-Pwree" - even if I had problems with one of their implants I wouldn't of used this guy because he couldn't even get the companies name right that we was trying to sue!!!
