Ray Bradbury's stories that make up "The Martian Chronicles" are a rare combination of science fiction, deep subjects and a delicious prose. The stories share a common thread but can be read completely independently. My favorite one: "There will come soft rains".

I am a big fan of Ray Bradbury. "There will come soft rains" was one of his stories adapted by EC Comics. I think my favorite was "The Veld". That may have been in "The Illlustrated Man". I read the "Illustrated Man" before I read the Martian Chonicles." I like the fact that his were not so much sience fiction but were more fantasy, which how he labeled them. Supposedly the only one he wrote as science fiction was "Fahenheit 451".
