Brazil, not a movie for everyone.

Recommended Posts

Of all dystopian movies, ‘Brazil is my favorite. For one thing, it features a great cast and a well-dressed pug. When watching Brazil our pug always gets excited.

Here is what Roger Ebert had to say about it:

January 17, 1986

“Just as George Orwell's 1984 is an alternate vision of the past, present, and future, so "Brazil" is a variation of Orwell's novel. The movie happens in a time and place that seem vaguely like our own, but with different graphics, hardware and politics. Society is controlled by a monolithic organization, and citizens lead a life of paranoia and control. Thought police are likely to come crashing through the ceiling and start bashing dissenters. Life is mean and grim.

The hero of "Brazil" is Sam Lowry (Jonathan Pryce), a meek, desperate little man who works at a computer terminal all day.”

Admittedly this film will only appeal to a certain type and if you make it clear through you will spend hours reminiscing and trying to figure out what really went wrong/right. It is1984, with a lot of sarcasm and little slapstick. If you liked 1984, you will enjoy the plot.

Wikipedia has a good right up on the film, it doesn’t hurt to know the plot ahead of time, it will avoid confusion.

Disclaimer: My wife can’t stand it!

Okay.

We talk about Mark Twain 's

"Life on the Mississippi"

and it becomes a question on Jeopardy.

Tonight, "Brazil" was a question on Jeopardy.

Does someone on here write the answers for Jeopardy?:D

I checked out this movie as I do all movies on IMDB and two things concerned me: R rated here in the States and content, so not for me. IMDB is a great site to see reviews and content for movies.
