Dent in car

We have a very nice Toyota Camry. I went to the hardware store and noticed a dent in the back right side. Too embarrassed to put a picture. I read that I could use a kitchen plunger, wet on vehicle and plunger and pop it out. Has anyone tried this?

It all depends on the dent. If it is just a "depression" in the side, yes a plunger can pull the dent out - it does work as long as you can get a good seal.

 

However, if the is a "crease" in the dent, it may not pull all the way out.

Hey Amy, in Wa, another Washingtonian!  We had to cancel our meeting because of the snow.  Hope you and all the friends are staying warm and safe wherever you are.  Yes on the plunger.  I learned this when I was about 14, we got  large 12 inch round dent in a side panel on our 72 chevy truck and my step dad use a plunger and it popped right out.  However if the dent is small or in part of a curve then it wont work.  It has to be just the right kind of dent.  We have the 2002 Camry, and have had it since 2003, we love our car.  150,000 miles and is running and looking like new still.  Best of all no payments in 8 years!

When I put a dent in our car, I used two very strong brothers to 'lessen' the dent before I presented it to Tom, so yeah a plunger might work.

Look up Paintless Dent Repair and see if there is anyone in your area that does it. It can be a very inexpensive solution.

Plunger didn’t work, but then we were to afraid to push hard.

I'm afraid the only way to fix that is a auto body shop.  I'm guessing it will be around 800 to 1000  to fix that.

It is 900. Good estimator. If I get a police code, just fill out an accident report, our deductible is only 300. Without a police code, it would be 500.
