Any tips for attending the Warsaw Poland international convention?

Any advice or tips for going to warsaw poland.  how is the temperature in August?  What foods to try?  any suggestions would be appreciated.  thanks

Advice: take a bus to Krakow and visit Auschwitz.

Auschwitz - only if you can emotionally take it. You can get a train to Kraków. Once you visit Kraków go to Kazimierz - a Jewish part of the city and Wawel Castle in Kraków

Other nice cities are Wrocław and Gdańsk.
It is also close to Prague in Czechia (former Czech Republic).

And the name does not come from Russia. It comes from Rus, which is a historical land that used to belong to Poland. So that food has nothing to do with Russia.

I would love to visit Auschwitz. I have just discovered that 6 of my Jewish ancestors were put to death there on 1 Dec 1942.  It made it more real for me than ever before.

thanks, we will be touring the concentration camp and doing a walking tour of Krakow

Make sure to book in advance and to check what days it's closed and when can you book a tour in a language you understand. 

 

Visiting Auschwitz was an impressive spiritual experience for me.

Enjoy yourself - but make sure whatever you do does not leave you so tired you sleep through the Convention parts

Also, you can get https://www.revolut.com/ this pre-paid card. It works with an app on your mobile phone. You can use it as your ordinary card everywhere. They have the best exchange rates and you can pay in local currency. Do not exchange money at the airport. Do it in less popular places as the exchange rates are insane at the airport.
