Well, I reread my comment. How self-centered it is, with all that is going on, throughout the earth. And I whine about the electrical grid. Sorry.

What type of person are you, that is do you like direct approach counsel/encouragement or do you prefer tender type encouragement?

If you like/direct counsel: STOP IT MY SISTER YOU'RE ABOUT TO BE IN THE THICK OF IT!

Loving/tender counsel: Sister Bea...that's not even wild talk (Job 6:3)...Jehovah understands your concerns and therefore so should we....carry on my faithful sister...

Many of the friends in our circuit are from the Napa area

Thank you for updating us! I visit this topic frequently to see how you friends there are coping. Even the air quality must be a concern. I'm sure there will be opportunities to comfort people in the affected area as well. 😉

My friend in CA just evacuated but now shes ok.

Where does your friend live?

One of my girls had to evac from Grass Valley but it was a small spot fire and they got it out quickly.

My older Sister just now texted and said she is ok, there were 2 little spot fires near her(Penn Valley) but again,  Firefighters got it handled real quick.

We have a couple in our Hall that used to live in Paradise, Ca - they are very emotional about the news of the fires in Ca.

We  have two families in our congregation from Paradise. We have direct communication from the Branch on being careful of re-awakening terrors. If and when they choose to discuss their experience OK but we the elders do not out of curiosity ask them what it was like. Let them heal.

I am not sying I am Superman, I am only saying that nobody has ever seen Superman  and me in a room together.

We have one family that survived that fire, it's just him and his wife, he is now one of our Elders.

He talks about their experience but not very much and not for very long, it traumatized him in a deep and lasting way.

There has been a few times where he chokes up during a part and he has to go outside for a few minutes.

My group had the cleaning assignment a few weeks back, I went to do the mens room just as he came out, it was pretty obvious that he had been crying.

Dan and Carol Ba_ _ _m...

If you know them you can figure that name out...

Crockett. Small town. I use to work in Hercules next to Crockett. There was a fire there on Sunday that temporarily shut down the freeway but was under control pretty quickly.  It is not related to the Kincade fire that is about 50 miles north of Crockett.

The couple in our Hall lived in Mexico for a while (I think he is originally from Mexico) and had to leave due to health problems. Then they had lived in Paradise.

She has commented a few times during the WT about their situation when it fits the material - she comment this past Sunday about having to leave an assignment due to health.

She got choked up and couldn't quite finish her comment.

They are a wonderful couple. He is a MS and partakes - he also just had 7 stents put in a few weeks ago and she is showing signs of dementia.

  • 2 weeks later...

Today is the 1 year anniversary of the Campfire that destroyed the city of  Paradise.

The Kincade fire in Geyserville was 100% contained on Wednesday.
