I think climate change means weather extremes, not just getting hotter.

2019 is currently and on track to be the second warmest year on record, trailing behind 2016 which was warmed by a super El Niño, 2019 has been affected by a very weak El Niño and by being near the solar cycle minimum. 

 

The warm air simultaneously sent north caused parts of the Arctic to be more than +10 Degrees Celsius warmer than Normal. October 2019 hit the lowest sea ice extent, see below on chart.

So what happens in a solar minimum the pressure from the Sun pushing against the Earth's atmosphere is less so then our atmosphere expands which then causes certain parts of the earth to be colder

The data for January 2020 so far is showing that it is the warmest January on record beating the 2016 record. It was noted Europe had its warmest January ever.

I saw an article about Antarctica hitting its highest temperature ever recorded also. I'll see if I can post a link later but if anybody else has it first feel free to post. I also saw an article about the water's warmer underneath and there was a swimmer who swam under a glacier - anyway I'll look for that one too. Here -
