I see ads on TV for this website. I haven't gone to the site, but it makes me ask if we should promote JW.ORG on TV?

Especially now with our public ministry severely limited .

So, my question is: Why not use commercial means to spread the message and introduce the folks to our amazing website?

It's already huge without being on TV and would not the world lump us in with other religions and tv evangelists??

We already do this.  JW Broadcasting app is available on Roku, AppleTV, and Amazon Fire.  These are 3 popular commercial means that we use to spread the message and introduce the folks to our amazing website. 

 

Further, jw.org is free and available to anyone who has internet access. Please feel free to share that URL with anyone you meet.

In some countries we use billboards. I've seen a commercial for the New World Translation before. It varies by area.

That's encouraging.  Perhaps one day there will be a major campaign through paid media so everyone will learn about our website. Might even be the last worldwide campaign !!!

When it has been necessary and possible we have sent infomercials on willing TV networks in various parts of the world. But right now, JW.org is so well known as a beacon of light and truth in this dark world that little else is needed. But remember to use the JW.org contact cards whenever possible. And to direct people you speak with there.

What about our campaigns distributing RC invitations to almost every household in the world..in their language? Also, Memorial invitations..our icon is on each piece of literature..Cart work..also on every Kingdom Hall. During the special international conventions there is huge news coverage. I think Jehovah has it covered the way he wants..personal and loving.

This was an interesting thread.  The billboard was determined to be authentic - and still some don't like the notion.

But one response said "Why not?  Advertise, advertise, advertise"

This was my original question - Why Not ?

 

Let's remember the organization is proud of the fact that Brother Russell wrote a weekly sermon which was published (at no cost) in something like 2300 newspapers.

AND, the brothers had a broadcasting license for a radio station which was ingeniously picked up by other stations to achieve the most extensive radio audience ever in the day.

 

What is the common denominator?  Each method of advertising was either free or at a very low cost.  The Slave has always been super careful about their use of dedicated funds. There are so many things that require money that commercial advertising was never regarded as a priority when there's willing volunteers happy to spread the good news.

 

However , maybe the brothers will decide that a big advertising campaign is the best use of funds because we don't need the money in the New World. I would be proud to see our website promoted on TV. Imagine the conversations that would spark !!!  Imagine the requests for a Bible study !
