and edit 2 - etymology: apparently the word Capitol comes originally from this hill in Rome, while the word capital comes from Middle English relating to the top, or to the head

I’m not being anal here; the distinction is important and failing to use the correct spelling is causing confusion to members here (capital with an A doesn’t mean the same thing as capitol with an O)

This does actually help, I have wonder what the difference is.  I don't think we use Capitol in the UK to refer to state buildings.  I always thought it was just a spelling difference.
