Both China and Russia are trying to consolidate on their former glory days before their periphery republics broke away in the 20th Century.  The nerve of these breakaway republics!  After Mao Tse Tung died, China did try to allow some automous rule in Xianjang and Tibet.  Of course, we know by 1989 there were revolts in Beijing and in Tibet, causing a return to authoritarian harsh rule.  And then with 9/11, China used this 'Muslim' menace to severely restrict the outlying Xianjang province, supplanting their culture and population with Han Chinese and the Mandarin language.

In the Qing dynasty, these extremities of the dynasty were seen as "Chinese", though diverse in cultures.  Now from 2000 especially onwards, we can see China wanting to expand its influence (spy cameras mass installed in 2016) and suppress all other minorities to make them part of China again.  With Hong Kong back in the fold, Taiwan is next in line.

And we can see Russia has the same plan.  To bring all republics into "Mother Russia".  This also means supplanting their culture and religion with what is "Russian".  This is how and why our brothers have become embroiled in the Russian elites' aims - to Russify all citizens and balk no discent.  So, back to that good ol chestnut - autocracy.

Of course the pushing comes in when the West opposes the encroachments on the Crimea (2014) and East Ukraine (since 2014).  Why have the separatists chosen to throw in their lot with the Russians?  Because the experiment of capitalism did not work.  Even under the Soviet regime with all its issues, people had work and could live.  Now, in a Frankestein of capitalism and oligarchy, all the poor in towns and villages outside of the European Russian cities are scrounging around to make a living.  Of course they remember "the good ol days" of Soviet Russia, and they want that again.  So they support the audacious land grab in Crimea and Eastern Ukraine.

While we watch on the sidelines as Satan's world aligns itself in the war against Jehovah, I was encouraged by our brothers in Russia who are staying faithful despite the great lion roaring.  We know how Jehovah loves his loyal ones, and we know how this pushing will end.

To my brothers in Russia and in Europe near the Ukraine hotspot, stay firm. Psalm 23 is the scripture Brother Maksim Beltikov uses as comfort, and I can see why.  It will help us all.

I don't want to put too much on the Djokavic saga, but Serbia is an ally of Russia.  Australia is an ally of US.  Oh what a mess it can all become over a little tennis match.

WWI had Gavrilo Pricip.... At the moment the Bosnian Serbs are again igniting the issues that were simmering since the end of the 1990s Kosovo war.  Serbia is very anti-west, and sees itself as a proud nation picked on by the bullies in the West.  And the Serbian Bosniaks are aligned with them.  This was just 4 days ago:

The no-vac Novak saga has certainly put another wedge, albeit a mere 'small' tennis one, between the East and West. Serbia are certainly hating right now.  How dare Australia throw out the current god of tennis.

Don't give up .. it's just around the corner.

Count on Putin to Wage War on Religious Freedom

Today, Russia ranks among the worst violators of religious freedom and human rights.

There is no sign that its persecution of religious minorities and foreign missionaries is coming to an end. And what is perhaps most troubling is that this repression is not limited to its own borders.

It is no secret that the Putin regime is threatened by religious freedom.

Eph. 3:20 “Now to the one who can, according to his power that is operating in us, do more than superabundantly beyond all the things we ask or conceive”
