NEWS ALERT | The Good News According to Jesus Begins Filming

Recommended Posts

Not sure if it's been mentioned earlier, but Ep 9 is underway now, or so I was told when I visited Bethel a couple of weeks ago. My first visit there, and was very impressed with the film set - well actually the whole Bethel branch for that matter 😊

I look forward to seeing who they pick to portray Jesus after his resurrection, when he appears in different forms. I hope they manage to capture his essence or mannerisms.

Also, since the Acts of Apostles series is going to be filmed at Ramapo, and there isn't a lot of cross-over with the Gospels, as far as characters, I hope they re-use the actor who plays Peter and keep that continuity.

The australian brothers would need to move to Ramapo.

1) There aren't many characters that have active roles in both.

Spoiler

Core Figures

  • Jesus Christ
Acts records his post-resurrection appearances and ascension in Acts 1.
  • Peter
Leading disciple in the Gospels; central leader and speaker in Acts.
  • John
Disciple in the Gospels; actively present with Peter in Acts 3–4.
  • James
Apostle in the Gospels; executed in Acts 12.

2) Aside from James in Acts 12, they all appear or are mentioned very early in Acts. They could easily get on a plane and spend a short time at Ramapo getting those scenes filmed.

I hope they do, but I understand if they don't.

We have plan to visit Australasia Brancj in 2029 - i hope we'll manage to both save money and still see the sets :)

I imagine the sets would still be there. Episode 10 should be finished around June 2026. They are shooting 2-3 episodes a year.  In 2029,  the account will be the set in the final weeks of Jesus' ministry. Come early in the calendar year. Summer time is better for the weather.

I imagine there might be a big party at the end of production. Who knows? 🤷‍♂️

Will they start filming acts of the apostles at the same time or right after this series?

I'm pretty sure this will be the focus of the Ramapo centre. But with these new big screens, they can actually be out filming the background scenes even now. Then scenes could be produced anywhere there is a 'Big' screen (currently 3 I know of.) I am not expecting this new project to be in any way dependant of the current project. It will have it's own timetable.

In the 'old days', we were known for our printing prowess. I am wondering if this will move to AV production. How exciting.

For the 'AoA' Series, Mt Nebo could be a good place to start. I'm sure it will be a 'fresh' crew. imho

Either way - I'll be happy if I'm still alive to see some of the episodes. Hence, the sooner the better. lol

Oh wow. It’s true that we usually depict Paul as bald like that. So you think that’s the brother who will play / is already playing Paul in the new series? Do you think that they would’ve already started filming those scenes two years ago? And then hide them in plain sight at the 2024 convention?

if so, I’d love to know what that scene is about. If you watch carefully, Paul is preaching to a dark skinned man, and everybody in the background is also a dark skinned. Is it supposed to be the good news entering Africa? As far as I can recall, of all the accounts in the Greek scriptures, I only remember us depicting the Ethiopian eunuch as being dark skinned previously so this could shine a light on new historical background research they’ve done in preparation for the new series on Acts…

It wouldn't surprise me if our film production wins awards such as NRB Media Awards, The Telly Awards and so forth.

The Photo Drama of Creation came out 13 years before The Jazz Singer.  But, the Jazz Singer is credited with being the first "talkie".  It's only a technological distinction.  Photo Drama used synchronized sound and color moving pictures, whereas Jazz Singer used audio printed directly on the film.

However, Photo Drama was the first to use color, it was 8 hours long and viewed by 9,000,000 people; an astronomical number for the era.

I don’t think so. Jesus was portrayed by different actors in our productions.

🙏 Thank you! 🙏

I wonder if this image from the 2024 music video has anything to do with the series acts.

Why is Paul always portrayed as a bald man while the rest of the apostles have a lot of hair?

I know 2 Corinthians 10:10 For they say: “His letters are weighty and forceful, but his presence in person is weak and his speech contemptible.”

SOURCE ARTICLE BELLOW: The Apostle Paul’s Appearance

Why do Jehovah’s Witnesses depict the apostle Paul as being bald or having little hair?

Frankly, no man today can be certain of Paul’s appearance. The drawings and paintings in our publications are artistic representations, not images based on proven archaeological facts.

However, there are some indications of Paul’s appearance. For example, Zion’s Watch Tower of March 1, 1902, mentioned one, saying: “As to Paul’s personal appearance: . . . In the ‘Acts of Paul and Thecla,’ . . . written about A. D. 150, there is a description of Paul which is probably the best, and a true tradition. In this he is described as ‘small in size, bald-headed, bandy-legged, well built, with eyebrows meeting; rather long nosed.’”

The Oxford Dictionary of the Christian Church (1997 edition) says about that ancient writing: “It is not impossible that the ‘Acts’ contain some elements of historical truth.” The Acts of Paul and Thecla was highly regarded in early centuries, as confirmed by the fact that 80 Greek manuscripts of it exist, as well as versions in other languages. Thus, our artistic presentations are in line with some ancient indications of what the apostle looked like.

Bear in mind, though, that other things are more significant than Paul’s appearance. Even while Paul was carrying on his ministry, some fleshly critics charged that “his presence in person [was] weak and his speech contemptible.” (2 Cor. 10:10) But we should not forget that he became a Christian by a miraculous display from Jesus. We can also think about what Paul accomplished as “a chosen vessel to [Christ] to bear [Jesus’] name to the nations.” (Acts 9:3-5, 15; 22:6-8) And consider how much benefit we can draw from the Bible books that Jehovah inspired Paul to write.

The apostle Paul

Paul did not boast over his accomplishments before becoming a Christian; nor did he describe his physical appearance. (Acts 26:4, 5; Phil. 3:4-6) He admitted: “I am the least of the apostles, and I am not worthy of being called an apostle.” (1 Cor. 15:9) He later wrote: “To me, a man less than the least of all holy ones, this undeserved kindness was given, so that I should declare to the nations the good news about the unfathomable riches of the Christ.” (Eph. 3:8) That message is certainly more significant than any concern about what Paul may have looked like.
