Star Trek Strange New World First Musical Episode

Ths week ST:SNW made Star Trek history with the first musical episode ever. Sure, some characters have sung in selected episodes in the past (in various series)--we even ALMOST heard Worf one time on ST:TNG--but no episodes where there was singing and dancing throughout the entire episode.

I don't like musicals, but I did enjoy this episode!  Totally not what I was expecting!!

 

And the Klingons....that was the icing on the cake!   I would have thought they'd be singing opera....but this was better!

Husband and I just started season 1.  So far so good.  We went back to the original Star Trek and watched the Menagerie (part 1 & 2).  Just so we can get background on Captain Pike.

SNW is my favorite Trek since TNG. It's just... lighter. (Figuratively and literally. Why were the ships so dimly lit in Picard?)

 

The Musical episode was great. For all the people who think it 'ruins' Trek? Please remember we've had TOS episodes where they went to worlds where everything was Ancient Rome, 1920's Mobsters... TNG episodes had episodes where the whole Crew were turned into Robin Hood's Merry Men, or a Western full of androids.

 

Trek has always had 'theme' episodes, and this was one of the better ones.

TOS will always be my favorite. I feel like ST has been on a downward spiral since 2009, and is in its death throes now. The best successor to TOS is “Star Trek Continues.”

They could not afford decent cameras with filters to block out the glare.
