JW Broadcast - December 2023

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if part 2 will come next week, Dec 18th, or perhaps sooner?

Will Part 3 come on December 25th or included with part 2 next week?

1 John 4:1 "Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired statement, but test the inspired statements to see whether they originate with God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world."

Part 2 will be next week, December 18, and part 3 on December 25. It was mentioned in part 1 (at the 57:18 mark) that there would be three parts to this Gilead graduation, so they won't be combined.

Thanks for the clarification, we have a broadcast almost every week for the next few weeks then. ☺️
We must have had over 100 monthly broadcasts since the first one in October 2014?

If I counted correctly, December 2023 was the 105th Monthly Broadcast. 🙏 (excluding any parts 2 & 3)

This would have been higher by 6, but the July/Aug Broadcasts were replaced by Convention Programs in 2020, 2021 & 2022

I wonder which of these Helpers are of the anointed.

I believe as a general rule that they are all of the 'other sheep' and are therefore not anointed - kinda the raison d'être for having helpers to the Governing Body, rather than having a larger Governing Body - and remember in the 1970s the Governing Body was twice the size it is today.

What appears to take place is anointed brothers, prior to their being appointed to the Governing Body, serve for a relatively short time as a helper immediately beforehand.

Firstly: The Watchtower 15 April 1992, page 31 stated: "It has been decided to invite several helpers, mainly from among the great crowd, to share in the meetings of each of the Governing Body Committees... This new arrangement goes into effect May 1, 1992."

The statement "mainly from among the great crowd" could have been made because Gerrit Lösch was at that time a helper? We know that Gerrit Lösch was appointed as helper to the Service Committee in 1992, although we do not know the month, it is possible he was a helper, and anointed, when the new helper arrangement was started in May 1992. Brother Lösch was then appointed to the Governing Body in July 1994, having served for a little over two years as a helper.

Secondly: The Watchtower 15 October 2015, page 3 then stated: "Since 1992, the Governing Body has appointed experienced, mature Christian elders to help its committees carry out their work. These helpers, from among the 'other sheep,' provide valuable support to the Governing Body."

This matches up with what we know about future Governing Body members, none of them where serving as helpers in October 2015. It also backs up the raison d'être for having helpers to the Governing Body, rather than having a larger Governing Body.

Thirdly: We do know that since 1992 all future Governing Body members have been appointed first as a helper for between 10 months to around 2½ years, before being appointed as a Governing Body member:

  • Gerrit Lösch appointed as helper to the Service Committee in 1992. Appointed to Governing Body in July 1994
  • Guy Pierce appointed as helper to the Personnel Committee in 1998. Appointed to Governing Body in October 1999
  • Samuel Herd appointed as helper to the Service Committee [in 1998?] Appointed to Governing Body in October 1999
  • Stephen Lett appointed as helper to the Teaching Committee [in 1998?] Appointed to Governing Body in October 1999
  • David Splane appointed as helper to the Writing Committee in 1998. Appointed to Governing Body in October 1999
  • Anthony Morris appointed as helper to the Service Committee in [2003/2004?] Appointed to Governing Body in September 2005
  • Geoffrey Jackson appointed as helper to the Teaching Committee in [2003/2004?] Appointed to Governing Body in September 2005
  • Mark Sanderson appointed as helper to the Service Committee in September 2010. Appointed to Governing Body in September 2012
  • Kenneth Cook appointed as helper to the Writing Committee in January 2017. Appointed to Governing Body in January 2018
  • Gage Fleegle appointed as helper to the Service Committee in March 2022. Appointed to Governing Body in January 2023
  • Jeffrey Winder appointed as helper to the Personnel Committee in March 2022. Appointed to Governing Body in January 2023

Never thought much of peters wife before, but I have a whole new level of appreciation for her.

In that time, many chose to have children as well. Imagine if she had even just 3 or 4 kids as well as her mother and brother-in-law. She was truly a Proverbs 31 woman. A lady to imitate!
