There are some recent news articles about illnesses to watch. I’ve seen some on bird flu recently which I will post separately.  

This one caught my eye though…

The nephew of a friend had to be rushed to the hospital last week. His sister found him on the floor having a seizure and foaming at the mouth. Turns out he has bacterial meningitis.  After being in a coma for days, they think he’s going to make it. So scary for his parents!!!

 

There was a US warning earlier this year for this disease.

I mean for this thread to just be about current possible outbreaks to be watchful for. 
Please do not bring the vaccine debate here.
You are welcome to start a specific thread about a certain vaccine’s pros/cons but let’s keep this thread just on watching outbreaks around the world.

Bird flu…risk is still low for humans. I know there are people already talking that it will be the next pandemic but this is the news for now…

Looking at the receptor binding profiles of recent avian influenza A(H5N1) viruses to see how well-adapted they are to causing infections in people (compared to birds). Humans and birds have different types and distributions of receptors to which influenza viruses can bind and cause infection. The hemagglutinin protein is responsible for the virus binding (or attaching) to host cells, which has to happen in order for infection to occur. For the receptor binding analysis of A/Texas/37/2024, the hemagglutinin (HA) surface protein of the virus was expressed in the lab and tested for its ability to bind to both human- and avian-type receptors. Preliminary results from these studies show that the A/Texas/37/2024 hemagglutinin only binds to avian-type receptors, and not to human-type receptors. This means the virus's HA has not adapted to be able to easily infect people.

I recently returned from an overseas trip, and I decided to get vaccinated for measles, as it is on the rise again, even in countries like Australia where it had been eradicated.

And we are seeing more diseases spreading due to antibiotic overuse and resistance, such as Golden Staph and TB.

I know this is fulfilling the prophecy about pestilences in a way that feels real now, especially since the pandemic. Sometimes, we live our lives thinking that these things happen in other countries. And now, with global travel at full tilt again, we see we are all affected. Another confirmation we need Jehovah to fix this through his Kingdom.

I’ve already been bitten by about 50 mosquitoes in the last month!  lol

And COVID is hitting the rounds this summer. Haven’t made it out of the house in a week and a half. Husband got it first and now I’ve had it for almost a week. Still getting slight fever. Post convention 😬

My family and I never caught COVID

So, I did some research on the word  pestilence.  Its derivation, when was it first used and why and at what time and what culture and group of people.  Why did they need to describe sickness in this manner.... I went down a rabbit hole (I won't go into depth as some may prefer not to hear sad/ dark info depending on the day... all what a person can handle on any given day)  Myself ... I found this research intriguing, I think when the bible says prophecies for some reason I may not delve deeper into each meaning.  I think it will cause me to take up more precautions.
