How do you get the meeting publications on JW Library for a new phone?

It's always such a headache for me to install JW Library on a new device for some reason, especially on an Android device. I don't have any of the meeting workbooks or watchtowers, and limited publications, and it keeps saying it's checking for more publications and it never does anything in the in the end, and every single time I get a new device I have to scramble to remember how this problem was solved the last time. 
I can't be the only one with this problem. It's showing up on a Nokia C12. I imagine that would be a rather common phone for people to use. 

I have a feeling it's by fiddling with some obscure setting.

I have not had that problem but there have been similar problems posted here. Sometimes the solution is to keep the JWL app open for an extended period of time and wait for the items in the library to show up. Sometimes deleting and reloading one of the publications will refresh the hidden catalog file.

Any problems that I have had were fixed with what Br. Richard just said.

 

I will say (from experience) the slower your internet service is, the longer it takes.  Out in the rural area where I used to live, it might take hours.

The reason why not all publications and languages are available at the first launch is that including them all in the installation package would significantly increase the application's size, making it less ideal for first-time installation. It's not necessary to have all publications and languages available if they are not immediately needed. Fewer resources mean a smaller app and a lighter installation.

 

More publications and languages are added once the catalog auto-update is complete. However, there are several reasons the auto-update could fail, such as slow internet connection, update interruptions, etc. If this happens, you will need to manually trigger the catalog update.

 

If the catalog update fails after it states that it is checking for new publications, you can try the following:

1. Force kill the application.
2. Open the application once again.
3. Manually trigger the catalog update.

That's it. Sometimes the catalog doesn't update, especially when your internet connection is weak. But after a time it eventually updates.

I have to copy jwpub files to internal memory or csrd and then I doing split screen with totalcmd on one side and jwlib on other. Then click to pubs and you will see opening at jwlib. Go one by one and you restore publications  to library

What operating system do you use?  Is it an Android system?  What version  number?

 

The reason I ask, is I resorted to somewhat of a similar approach on an Android 5 device.  Our organization does not support anything older than Android 7 or 8.

Its android 14. Its easyer to download publications and multimedia within library, but Im doing this "import" to save some of the bandwitch / data cost. What Im missing is some Import button in JW library, then select folder with publications and multimedia and finish
