Have you found a good bargain lately??

Recommended Posts

While we don't celebrate the holidays the world does, it does not stop us from finding some really good bargains. Right now Amazon has there sale going and I picked up a couple pair of suspenders. I also saw some good deals on shaving kits (razors with replacement blades included) for men and women. It's now more enjoyable to buy these items online and have them delivered.

I saw some crazy tv prices too, a 32inch  Insignia Amazon Fire TV made by Best Buy for $69. Some Ipads had some pretty good prices too. I really don't need much or anything. Here locally our Fred Meyer Store has a really big sock sale and the Big 5 usually has some good prices on trail shoes. What have you seen?

As we are movie to a new country, we have been enjoying the Black Friday to buy almost everything we need there (the apartment is empty) and it's going very well so far.

Now I just need a fridge and a washing machine and everything is ok.

One of my daughters got one a heat pump washer/dryer single unit. You just put the clothes in to wash and take them out when they are dry. They don't need a dryer vent that goes outside. We like it.

Hi David, happy you arrived safe with family.  Maybe the friends in Japan can help you find the fridge and washing machine at good price.  Maybe someone might donate.  Ask Jehovah, He always provides.

Stay safe out there my brother.  Love to our friends in Japan.

Yes, it really needs at least one sister to keep the elders meetings:

1. Sensible and to the point

2. Not to let any item run overtime

3. Avoiding any references to football (UK only)

4. Only tea (or coffee) and biscuits. No cream cakes.

5. Finish on time!

Yes, it really needs a sister.

Black Friday sales were at one time just a US "custom" and now like many other US "customs" have landed down under.  Seems all businesses are getting into the spirit of black friday sales.  One of our suppliers for our business has a black friday sale on bathroom renovation supplies.  I love a good bargain and am always on the lookout mainly op shops (thrift) and marketplace.  A few years ago I bought my Bernina sewing machine from a local op shop for $38.  It was worth $600 new.  We are renovating one of our bathrooms and despite getting materials at trade prices we sourced our wall tiles from marketplace cheaper than what we can get them for.  I also bought my husbands ipad off marketplace a few years ago and it is still going well.  I now update our iphones by buying second hand, much cheaper and so far never had an issue.

I found a good bargain recently. It was from the outlet store chain called Ocean State Job Lot. I found a perfect, new coat for $30; it’s heavy duty and water repellent. I was actually planning on investing on a $200+ coat from Macy’s. Sounds crazy but this coat would be used heavily in field service.
Glad I didn’t have to pay that much.

Are Heat Pump Dryers Really Worth It? Miele Dryer Review

Spoiler
Quote

There’s some insanely cool, or should I say hot, engineering inside this dryer that doesn’t require a vent to the outside or a high voltage outlet. This thing runs off of a standard 15 amp household outlet and will use 4 to 5 times less electricity than a typical electric dryer. So if they’re that good, why aren’t they used everywhere? Well, I’ve been living with this Miele model for a while now and I have some thoughts on that. It’s one of my favorite pieces of new tech in my home. It’s kind of genius, but not perfect.

I saw Matt's YT video some time back.

We have this one:

Profile 4.8 cu. ft. Smart UltraFast Electric Washer & Dryer Combo in Carbon Graphite with Ventless Heat Pump Technology

We have had it for about a year. We clean the filter each time it is used. When I run a load of my work clothes it takes about 2 hours to run a complete cycle. Of course, that is wash and dry and I don't have to remember to move my clothes from the washer to the dryer. Very helpful when I run it as I head to bed since I wake up to clean, dry clothes instead of still needing to dry them in the morning.

As to them seeming to still be wet - if I take them out as soon as it shuts off, they can kind of still feel damp, but then, they feel the same way if I take mine out of the conventional dryer as soon as it is done - except they are not near as hot. They are not really damp, since they feel dry by the time I take them to my room and start putting them away. I have never had any issue with them not drying.

My daughter bought this when we were having problems with our washer machine, and it took several visits from the service tech and waiting on parts before they got it fixed. Fortunately, the washer was still under warranty. So, we have a conventional washer/dryer combo and this all-in-one, and we use them all ... there are 5 of us, all adults.

Since we still have the conventional setup, it was nice that we didn't have to cut another hole in the wall to vent this and I didn't have to run another 240v 30 amp circuit. We just plugged it into the same receptacle the other washer is plugged in to and they can both run at the same time without any issues.

So far, we would say that our heat pump unit is worth it.

No wine and beer, nor "paté" and "saucisson" ? What kind of elder after meeting is that ? :D

This has been a bit rough for me. I love good bargains. But, we have found out when we go to town, we buy. Sometimes, needed or not! So, we have decided to try to stay away from going to town for a bit.
The traffic is crazy, perhaps not worth all those, “good bargains”.
Plus, for a while now, I have been trying not to buy something I don’t actually need. This goes for online shopping, too.
Alas. Iʼm a shopper, with self-clipped wings..

I want to age without sharp corners, and have an obedient heart!

Yep. For the first time in years I found a good bargain on Black Friday for something I needed: A new TV.

I hardly watch any regular TV channels but mostly streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ and - the most important for me personally - DAZN (for sports).

It has been over a year now since my old TV started having more and mor technical problems while streaming things. It was already bothering me while I was watching a series, but there´s nothing more annoying than watching an exciting sports event live, and your TV screen is frozen every 5 minutes :wall:

But I couldn´t afford a new one, so I endured this for over a year. But then I checked this years Black Friday deals, and I really found a good new TV at a great price (more than 50 % off). I´m happy
