US Gas prices - up or down?

Recommended Posts

$4.46 a gal. at Arco yesterday in Salem Oregon. A far cry from the 34 cents a gal. I paid as a teenager and the 20 Cents a gal. Dad paid a few years earlier.

Here is the Australian national average weekly prices for diesel, where is averaged AUD$1.85 per litre to AUD$3.19 in mid April, the dropped back down to AUD$1.85 in July and now back up at AUD$2.86 per litre.

Whereas for petrol (RON 91 with no ethanol added) it went from AUD$1.80 peaking at AUD$2.53 in April, then slowly climbing back up to AUD$2.37 per litre.

Between April and June this year, the Australian governement temporarily reduced the fuel exices by 20.6 cents per litre, which would have increased the above fuel rates for the period between April & June even higher.

For those in the US, there is 3.785 litres in the US Gallon, and the exchage rate is roughly AUD$1 to US$0.70, or AUD$1.42 to US$1.

So one US Gallon in when fuel is currently at $2.50 per litre AUD$9.46 per US gallon, or US$6.62 per litre.

Costco $3.29

Keep in mind Costco uses gas prices as a loss leader. Their prices are always lowest or near lowest because they want people to be members and shop in the store.

I think Buc-ee's also uses gas as a loss leader, but I've not had enough experience to speak with certainty

Phillipians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well-spoken-of, whatever things are virtuous, and whatever things are praiseworthy, continue considering these things.

Costco also sells Top Tier gasoline, so the lower price does not mean lower quality.
