2013 IndyCar Calendar Concept

Hy folks!

I am one of 11 finalists chosen to design the 2013 IndyCar Calendar. The month assigned to me was October, and I was to design the theme around Row 3 from this year's Indy 500.

Below are two initial design concepts. I am looking for opinions on which concept is more appealing. Click on the thumbnail below for a larger view.

Wow, very nice and a tough choice! I also like the second one but it might be too "busy" maybe? The first one is more organized, but not as exciting. Maybe something in the middle between the two? As is, I'd choose the second one though.

Image 1 is nice but is missing something. I think dominated by light gray and white. The face of Κanaan is the same shade with the road.

For Νο2 image I have not comment is a classic calendar for racing cars. But it is good with color and balance.

Thank you, everyone, for your input. I appreciate the support and feedback.

The overwhelming majority have been choosing the simple design over the busy collage. I liked the affect I used on the collage, so I took that affect and applied it to the cartoon layout.

So, now we have round 2. Out of the two choice below, which one appeals more? Be sure to zoom in on choice 2 and note the sketch details.

The second one. I like the "actual" photos verses the "comicy" ones.

No2 is better now I like the font of the numbers. Also, the background is looks like tires.
