  1. Didn't see this posted, thought I'd share. Hope I put it in the right place. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna925981 The attorney general was speaking at a conference on the future of religious liberty when two ministers challenged his fealty to the Bible.
  2. They speak of churches in Minnesota, but give info on the decline of other churches nationally. Don't know how reputable the site is, just sharing. Quotes from article, "When La Salle Lutheran locks its doors in August, it will become the latest casualty among fragile Minnesota churches either closing, merging or praying for a miracle." "Church attendance has been declining for decades nationally, but the pace appears to be accelerating." http://m.startribune.com/index.php/as-minnesota-churches-close-a-way-of-life-fades/486037461/
  3. Found only 1 article. It says the case has been adjourned by the judge to allow the defendant more time to look over materials in the case. Or am I reading that wrong? I thought it was already adjourned for this reason. Maybe it should say it was adjourned "to" April 3rd and not "on" April 3rd? https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.rferl.org/amp/29142453.html
  4. Hi there. New System Schools is what is called an "umbrella school" for JW families wanting to homeschool. We have been using them as ours this homeschool year. You can go to their website to print, sign and send a request to obtain a info packet from them, along with a $15 money order. The packet is necessary and super helpful. The family fee for the year is $165 and your are also required to obtain a HSLDA membership ($110/year). You can always call and ask them questions. The website doesn't look like much but it is legit. Been around for quite awhile now. Hope this helps.
  5. Just caught news of this incident while looking through this forum. We live 1hr30mins away from Parkland. Such a tragedy! This world can't last much longer, can it? What else are we in for in 2018? Could this be the year!? Praying for the end of this system. Side note: It does make me confident in my choice to homeschool.
  6. Can someone please tell me how many chapters there are in this novel? Did it end at chapter 21 when it says "to be continued..."? I'm reading off the blog site.
  7. Hi there. I was wondering if anyone has used thegoodandthebeautiful.com? They have free literature curriculum that also includes grammer, spelling, poetry, etc... several PDFs are free, but can be printed and shipped for a price. I wanted a stronger LA program for my fifth grader and this is working out well. You can adminster a test to know what level your child is on. Surprisingly my 10 year old couldn't pass the level 3 assessment! So it looks like he's needing to close some learning gaps by going back a couple levels. I blame public school since this is our first year homeschooling. But anyway the program has helped to improve his reading and pronounciations. There are also Science units (no evolution ever mentioned) that my 4 yr old, 10 yr old and I enjoy! I haven't bought the History portion. I chose to go with The Story of World, which was referred to me from another JW homeschool mom. You can find those on Amazon or eBay.
  8. Just finished book 1 and many times I had to pry myself away to get other things done. What an excellent help for opening up my imagination to the future promise and bringing me closer to Jehovah through deep understanding of the love he has shown for us. Thank you Brother Walker for all your effort! I really enjoyed this reading! I look forward to reading this again as well as book 2.
  9. Dear sister, I am sorry to hear about your home, yet your positive attitude is something to be admired in this terrible situation. My family and I recently experienced Irma and were displaced for only a couple of weeks. It is surely Jehovah that gives us strength to endure events like these. Thanks to the brotherhood we felt constantly cared for. My prayers are with you and all other brothers and sisters being affected. May Jehovah continue to comfort you and your husband.
  10. Great, I have emailed the group to join and will fill out the questionaire today. Had to make a Yahoo account in order to join. Thank you for the info!
  11. Hello friends, Just wanting to extend a thank you for the homeschool information given in this forum/post and share a bit about my family. Our oldest son started virtual school last year, so I got to see first hand what was being taught and how our son was learning. It was then I realized that he struggled with some subjects and a large portion of what was being taught seemed unnecessary. We wanted to keep him from the issues of bad associations (he was bullied every year) as well as help him progress spiritually and academically. This year we had decided to go traditional. We have a 5th grader and Pre-Kindergartener. We are currently in our 3rd week of homeschool and things are good but could be better I'm sure. I have spent many hours researching homeschool tips and such, but I think an important part of what is missing in our homeschool is more like minded associates. We are the only family homeschooling in our congregation and we only have one English congregation in our town. I try to keep track of our district's schedule in order to plan activities with other moms on no-school days. So I guess what I'm asking for are suggestions, tips, stories or simple encouragement to help in our first year of homeschooling. Hope to read from anyone with this experience.

How I Found the Truth

  • How I found the Truth
I did not grow up in the truth, my husband did. My family was Catholic. (It always creeped me out). I attended a different church as a teen (can't recall a denomination). Always had an interest and prayed to God the "Lord's Prayer" nearly every night, but never realized how much I didn't know until I started studying with my soon to be mother-in-law after attending a meeting. And it was then for the first time ever I learned God had a name and it wasn't Jesus! My husband and I both serve Jehovah faithfully now with our 2 boys. I had studied for years, but finally was baptized May 21st, 2016 and have not looked back! Thank you Jehovah!!
