Yes, the Southern Hemisphere does strange things to wisteria...

Like making them bloom in September/October/November.

Gabe, that pic of the Seacliff Bridge must have taken some patience.

The old railway tunnel shot was on time exposure too, wasn't it?

Ray. I am in a circle of classy photographers on Google Plus. These are someone elses pics. But still really well done. Your right as to take time. They are beautiful.

Dilip, it would be nice if you posted some pics of what your part of the world looks like...

Here's another one of the area over which I regularly travel:

post-4283-0-10135300-1430187158_thumb.jp

This is the view from the Moonbi Lookout, situated about half-way up the Moonbi Range on the New England Highway between Tamworth and Armidale. This view is looking to the South, the village of Moonbi is behind the hill in the centre.

And this was an unexpected sight:

post-4283-0-29230300-1430187260_thumb.jp

Today I was asked to help the worker on this farm to retrieve his tractor and on the way I spotted this tree branch which has fallen, a long time ago, and impaled its branches in the ground so that it stands erect beside the tree from which it fell.

And for some fun...

Free football viewing from the street above the ground. The neighbours aren't too impressed with the noisy barracking, nor with the empty cans left behind. Probably they don't like the car (or cars - many had left before I took the pic) parked on the roadway either.

Classy is always the word for you, Gabe...

With regard to the disused tunnel, I believe there's one or two of those in that area are used for growing mushrooms.

Slumming it, eh?

Here's the tree that fell just across from my home over the weekend...

It seems to me to have had pretty poor roots, this tree has been constantly trimmed to clear high tension power lines over the years.

It's amazing that Sunday's winds didn't blow the other way and give rise to it falling among the wires.

Fifty years ago this (now faded) slide recorded what it was like looking down over the Western part of Hobart in Tasmania...

The view from Mt Wellington is fabulous, you can see most of Tasmania from up there (I think it's about 4200').

And when I went there in 2005 I took this photo over much of the same area:

It was winter and there was snow behind me, but the August day wasn't too bad and we'd finally been able to get to the top after the road had been closed for a week. Clearly I didn't get this shot from the same place as the first one was taken.

My friends hand-feeding Kookaburra

I now know roughly how this bird sounds thanks to an Australian actress describing the sounds on tv. What a pretty bird.
