Alvarez argued the victim could have survived the gunshot wounds had he received a blood transfusion. Silva was a Jehovah's Witness and it went against his beliefs. But the jury didn't agree with that argument.

I really didn't understand that silly argument in the first place. He shoots Silva, and then blames Silva's religion on his death! :S

Maybe he would have stood a better chance if he claimed the San Francisco 49ers loss of the super bowl was to blame.

I was wondering if that defense was claimed by him or thought up by his legal team.   Now found guilty, do you know the sentence?

From the article I linked above:

Quevedo was surprisingly calm and nodded his head when the jury read his first degree murder conviction. The jury found the 26-year-old guilty of killing Silva, and guilty of a special circumstance of committing the murder for the benefit of his gang. He's also guilty of discharging a firearm causing death, and possessing a firearm as a felon. This means Quevedo is looking at life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Good we know our brother will live again and this sicko will die forever. As long as he isn't shanked in prison for ticking someone off.
