110 degrees today.....

Recommended Posts

It was hard to stay out in service more than an hour!

School is out for the summer and we had lots of kids out in service.

While working with 4 kids today, and 4 adults I noticed a police car came on the street that we were working on.

He watched us while we worked the entire street, we were out for about 40 min.

I wondered if someone called and complain because they saw the kids out? any idea?

the neighbors probably complained that it was (child abuse).............X(

Ha ha, we only hit 106.

I had someone try to tell me that Phoenix is cooler than Las Vegas - NOT! And they have way more humidity there too.

Destiny, what do you think about moving to Vegas? With a name like Destiny, you'd fit right in ;)

don't tempt me.....is there a "need" there?

Isn't there a need for a good Destiny everywhere :flowers:

What we do in Florida we do early morning and work for an hour house to house. If you are not careful you can suffer heatstroke Hot out there,My car temp was 108.

I am especially concerned for kids, we had a couple of kids visiting from Iowa, and we had to take many breaks and drink water.

Yeah, she doesn't want to go where the "great are needed".:whistling:

We have hit 100 a few times so far this year in TX. We usually don't get those temps til July, so this is unusual for us in June. Service is definitely hard when it's this hot. We were out Monday and after one hour, we left to get some drinks.

Interesting. Here is Ohio it has been record lows for what seems like months.

we did too, problem was we did not want to go back.

Lol, I know it is hard to do. We were doing invitations for the Dist Conv, so we went out for another hr, but it was not easy. Our pioneers always push and get most of their hours in early so they don't have to spend alot of time getting them in during the summer.

I've just read that about 300 sq. miles of Arizona are affected by these fires. The scale of this is hard to imagine. Are you anywhere near them Dawnmarie?

Thanks for asking josie, i am not near these fires i only see it on the news.

it is sad though .....The thought of the wildlife running for their lives and bears getting up in trees and then burning is unthinkable, .....this too will come to an end in the new world as psalms 145:16 says: that Jehovah will open his hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing. which includes plants and animals-- what a lovely thought!!--:boating: Let God's Kingdom Come!!

It hadn't occurred to me that animals would be dying out there (stupid of me I know!) I imagined them being able to get away. How sad.

That Jehovah will put everything in balance once more is something for which we can be truly grateful.

These fires have been on my mind too as I follow a breaking news tweet that has covered them. I'm so glad you're not near them Dawnmarie. It's very upsetting to think about the animals caught up in these fires. I always think of the animals when we have these great fires here in Australia.

A few years ago we had one very close to where I live. The weather was very hot in the 40'sC and I took my kids to the swimming pool. It was funny cause I saw a fire engine screaming down the main road on my way there but it didn't click. While we were floating around in the pool I saw the huge pall of smoke nearby and said to the kids - hey we've got to get home!. The road was blocked and it took a while to get there and then they were checking our drivers licenses to see if we were residents before allowing us to pass. We live next to a nature reserve so fire is always a hazard.

Last time we had a fire my youngest son was at home and I was at the hairdressers. He was watching the smoke and listening to the radio reports and rang me. I tried to calm him and decided I needed to get home so I left with a full set of foils in my hair AND was once again stopped by the police asking to see my address on my license, I asked the policeman - please don't look at me LOL. That fire was deliberately lit. It often happens during the school vacations.

Yes, I look forward to a time when the suffering of man and animals and plants s a thing of the past too.
