Asking a Baptist preacher to baptize is like asking Colonel Sanders if he wants a bucket of chicken. Somebody’s going to get dunked.

So when a football coach in Villa Rica, Georgia asked to be baptized on the high school football field – the local First Baptist Church obliged.

Who would even want to baptize a football field?

Then again, we can see just how mixed up they are.

I think you misunderstand.,  They didn't baptize the football field.  They had a mass baptism of people on the football field prior to football practice.

:D

Maybe they wanted to avoid another Deflatgate by playing on holy ground.

Let's see, if sinning means to miss the mark and baptism indicates forgiveness of sins, maybe they are forgiving the field for all the games they lost.

:D

Or it was a pun comment based on the title..

This is as ridiculous as the stuff the pope blesses- bikers, cars, all the cheap trinkets in the Vatican gift shop, etc. . .Like a football game is a proper place for something like that?!!!! Bet the church charged for it too!

Can't tell if the comment about baptising the field is a pun or misunderstanding. Either way, pretty much every baptism at regional conventions in the UK has been at a football stadium for decades since that's what most (not all) of the venues have been.

If you watched the video you could tell it was not a proper baptism. Several of those "dunked" did not have their complete body immersed - basically, just their heads
