No, that is not a photograph of the death star orbiting Earth. It is the winner of NASA Earth Observatory’s 2016 Tournament Earth—the Dark Side and the Bright Side. The image shows the fully illuminated far side of the Moon that is not visible from Earth.

The images were acquired by the Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera (EPIC) on the DSCOVR satellite, which orbits about 1.6 million kilometers (1 million miles) from Earth. EPIC maintains a constant view of the fully illuminated Earth as it rotates. About twice a year the camera captures images of the Moon and Earth together as the orbit of DSCOVR crosses the orbital plane of the Moon.

The camera was a million miles away.   Wonder if a closer shot would be any brighter?

I knew a brother at Brooklyn who I referred  to as"Pink Floyd"  His name was Floyd.

His ( now late  ) in-laws moved into congregation I was in at that time in Parry Sound, ON

Seeing this picture gives me goose bumps. I don't know why, I guess I'm just awestruck.

So again, describing the far side of the moon as "dark" is relative to how puny man sees things.  That's why we get goosebumps seeing glorious pics like this.  We instinctively know this is mind-blowing stuff, and that the Creator of the universe has allowed us to get to know him.  Imagine what he sees from his vantage point above us all?  Compare that to puny man, who worries about his own minutiae.....

 

Search for Jehovah, and keep living, So that he does not burst out like a fire on the house of Joseph, Consuming Bethʹel, with no one to extinguish it.   You turn justice into wormwood, And you cast righteousness to the earth.  The One who made the Kiʹmah constellation and the Keʹsil constellation, The One who turns deep shadow into morning, The One who makes day as dark as night, The One who summons the waters of the sea To pour them out on the surface of the earth —Jehovah is his name.  - Amos 5:6-9

The flash wouldn't be too good at that distance!

What is interesting we don't see that side of the moon because it is to ugly. The moon doesn't spin around probably because of this.
