Updates to JW Library (iOS, Android, Windows)

Really? In the KH comp, we have always had issues with the JWL app fisghting to be on top of the zoom app. If i click the Zoom app the second screen JWL window minimizes, or a lot of captions/titles do not appear in a lot of pictures/videos. The JWL app crashes if i open it with zoom together. Sometimes the Second screen JWL window just closes randomly. The playlists on JWL are also really buggy, and I can go on…. 😅

I am not using my JWL on a KH computer. There are some issues that can be had when using JWL with Zoom. Some have found that following a proper launching procedure and always launching the various programs in that particular order help mitigate difficulties. It has been said that JWL does not 'play nice' when sharing the screen.

Aah, I mostly use the JWL windows app in the KH, so I basically only see the bugs hahaha, but the images/video title/captions not appearing happen regardless /:

We found everything works fine when opening JWL first before Zoom. Also do not let the main zoom window ever touch the TVs near the stage. Restarting Zoom always fixes the problem. I would say it's a Zoom bug rather than a JWL bug,

I have always found it to be very buggy also, on Win11. I just put up with it because it's such an important and vital tool.

Could we expect a new interface, aligned with the current Android and iOS standards, with real UX and usability improvements?

Yes. I've choose to stay on iPadOS 18 because slide over works better here and, to be honest, iPadOS 26 or 27 does not bring any useful feature to me. "If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it"

I've installed this on JW Library version 15.6. If you have a version above that, you will not be able to import "custom" jwpub files

I have never experienced any bugs. Perhaps some things don't work like I want them to but it's not a bug. Please explain.

I have experienced several different bugs over the years, not necessarily all at once. They often eventually get resolved with updates. To mention a few:

 

It crashes and closes. This one I still experience. It will freeze up for several seconds and then just close.

 

The dark mode gets confused, where half of the screen will be dark and the other light. When I close and restart it goes back to how it should.

 

When playing either audio or video, it will play very slowly for the first 4 seconds and then just stop playing.

 

These are just some off the top of my head that I currently experience. Often closing and restarting the app fixes it.

 

But there have been others over the years that have been resolved.

As I read this section, I realized that I almost never have any of the problems mentioned. The only thing that annoys me is the length of time it takes to open a section of the "Library" when I am searching for a boo or tract.  I realize that my Windows PC has 50 GB of data stored from the JWL and it has to arrange them and sort them and so on.  But I wish it was quicker.

 

I gather that all f the other problems seem to relate to how individuals (and congregations) use the app.  They describe using three screens with a mixture of Zoom and other apps, and so on.  I don't.  So maybe the problems multiply when the level of complexity grows.
