Keto, IF and OMAD...

Recommended Posts

Carnivore diet, eh? Personally I often recommend trying omnivore autoimmune protocol / low fodmaps / low histamine as needed before going pure carnivore, but there are some definite benefits to it if you have severe sensitivities which other elimination diets haven't yet helped with. If you're just trying to lose weight or reverse diabetes however, it's not necessarily the most practical, it can be more difficult to adjust back to eating plants later on. You also need to make sure you're getting a wide variety of grass fed organ meats and seafood.

Going to have to try them, on my list of goodies to make.

Had to do a parts run for Lew this morn after work and forgot to bring something to eat, grrr, fought going to get a breakfast burrito, and fought. Ended up at Safeway getting 3oz beef with swiss melted topped with red onion and black olive wrapped in 2 lettuce leaves, very proud of myself. It kept me full till noon, yay.

For you Keto dieters that are counting macros:

For those ingredients:

19g net carbs

66g Fat

39g Protein

869 calories

With 19g of carbs and I just about ate all 4 waffles 😋😋😋 I won’t be making these to often. LOL

I’m limited to 21g of carbs a day.   Which means I’m a little over right now.

No dinner for me. Just another hard boiled egg and my 2 Babybel cheese thingies. 😋😋😋😋

Check your App Store and than check out the “carb manager” app.  It’ll ask questions and than calculate out the information. Daily Net carbs, protein, etc.

I think I’m getting the hang of it now.

I'm way late on this thread but my wife and I started a loose form of the Keto Diet in February (before going to a Special Convention) and in 5 months lost about 35 pounds.  Went to the convention (Georgia and then Croatia) and gained back about 12 pounds 🤪.  Now 6 weeks ago we went hard core Keto with the Ideal Protein diet.  I've lost 22 pounds in 6 weeks and Carol has lost about 15 (I know, it's easier for Men and it's not fair).  Overall now I've lost 50 pounds on some form of Keto diet and I hope to lose about another 20 or so.  I think one of the "Key's" with the Ideal Protein diet is when you reach your goal they ease you back into a "normal" diet that includes carbs (Yeah BREAD!).  I do find it interesting how the coaches and the Dr. talk about how smart your body is, how it can adapt to what you are eating, how starving does not work and why..... all things that tell me Jehovah knew how to make our body work perfectly and Man now has it so messed up that he has to figure out  how to get it somewhat back to normal (but no where close to perfect).  BTW, my Dr. and the coaches are talking about IF and how it is also working for people.  I THINK..... get close to your desired, healthy weight and then just eat good.  Avoid sugar, pop, junk food, most fast food, go easy on carbs, eat your fruit and veggies, lean meat and chicken (if you want), fish, a little wine for the sake of your stomach........

I finally downloaded this app.  Found out my macros were waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off from what I had imagined them to be.

Great app...if they don't start charging me to use it.  It said I had finished my 'first' view of the app and then asked me to close it.

I'm thinking we are only allowed a certain number of 'views' and then it will stop working if we don't pay the nine bucks a month

to keep using it.:(  Here's hoping I'm wrong....

Protein 4 cals/per gram
Carb 4 cals/ per gram
Alcohol 7 cals/ per gram
Fat 9 cals/gram

Net carbs = Total Carbs - (all fiber + sugar alcohols)

See pic to see if you get the net carbs 24 for this pint!

I do know grapefruit has more carbs than I'd like but my body responds so well to it. My stomach is flatter and it feels lighter.

Many times I revert back to the 40-30-30 Fat Burning Nutrition that I did in 1998 instead of just KETO, it allows fruit every meal. 1/2 apple, 1/2 orange, kiwi, pineapple. So I enjoy it.

Instead of fruit this morning I had 1/2 a pickled beet and a bit of pickled red onion on my salad with 1oz smoked salmon. Delish.

Oh ya. red. Last time I bought it though the pith was really tough. Sometimes I get the already peeled in its own juice, easier to eat. But it's amazing, love it

Never got that but think I’ll try it next time

Well, I started this Keto thing back on October 28. Definitely a work in progress. But I am really liking this.

I sometimes fail and go over my carb limit. A few times it was a shock…thinking that the food was fine.  But right now I’m not going crazy about that.

(TMI) Anyway, the other night I noticed my belly wasn’t sticking out as far. 😳😳😳😳. I thought…I was imagining it.

I was with my spiritual mom yesterday and I said mom just look at me….didn’t tell her anything. So she looked up at my face and then down and her eyes widened and she commented about the change she saw.

I haven’t weighed myself so I don’t know how much weight is gone but knowing things are definitely going in the right direction I really don’t care.

The last time I did get weighed at the doctor’s office (and we all know how those scales work) they put me at 226 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳. I go first part of December so I’m anxiously waiting.

Also the tape measure is a good guide..the numbers on the tape are more accurate than the numbers on some scales..

On Monday, I went to a weight loss specialist in the Bariatrics Dept. of our local hospital.  She was fully supportive of me adapting a ketogenic lifestyle.

She said my Macros were within a perfectly healthy range and agreed to accompany me on my weight loss journey.

I told her I was happy to have a doctor on board.^_^

I'm working on having Bragg's vinegar and honey every day (should have stevia) makes my gut feel good and also taking my MCT oil (I put in capsules) everyday. I get good results form them, I just have to remember to take them.

I also have been looking up these products for a long time. https://shop.perfectketo.com/collections/all-perfect-keto-products/products/the-best-seller-bundle

They're so expensive I was reluctant to buy but with the sales going on today I saved enough to buy it.

I was rereading this topic and it's nice to see so many doing the IF, I'm down to 1 meal a day and something small before bed. My hours of activity are different from many others so I eat at different times. I'm up by 3:30 and don't generally eat till 9-10 am, I do have 2 20oz thermoses of coffee, decaf with Cafix and a jug of water. When I eat I have a nice full meal. I stay satiated until about 6pm when I have boiled egg or a couple pieces of meat and cheese.

This is a real liberating way of eating. Simple yet very delicious.

I'm making a frittata tomorrow. Sausage, asparagus, mushroom, onion, broccoli, egg, cheddar and topped with parm. All the things I need in one dish.

My hubby and I drink the vinegar supplement everyday.  Quarter cup in a 33 oz. bottle of water--each.

We drink a third of the 33 oz. of vinegar water before each meal.

If I don't have three meals, I just drink the vinegar water anyway.  Great aid for digestion.

My hubby takes it for muscle cramps.  He hasn't had any cramps in his calf muscles

since he's been taking the vinegar (Bragg's with 'the mother'.)

He takes his with honey.  I drink mine straight. ^_^
