JW Library - Years Text during meeting

Recommended Posts

Good evening all

Can anyone help ? For some time now we have had two symbols ( one looks to be a speaker and the other like a settings cog ) that appear on the screens in the Hall only when JW Library is displaying the Years Text.

None of us really know where these could be coming from or how to remove them given the fact we believe the years text is automatically generated and not editable ?

Any one else have the same issue or have any ideas on how to remove ?

regards

Darren

Did you have this problem before or is this the first time you have used this display combination?  How did you get the "text" picture and the "JW" picture?  Our text is a separate picture (jpg) that loads anytime the screen is blanked.  Are these part of of another app?  Are they all part of displaying the JW Library by itself?

I don’t know the make of the monitor - they seem to be generic ones supplied with the package from the society, no names on them physically or within their settings.

however the key is that the symbols only appear when the years text is showing.

jwHess we have used this combination for some while, I believe from memory that they have occasionally disappeared but then reappeared. I’m told they year text and the JW symbol are built into JW library and we can’t access these - I can’t be certain that is true but certainly no one seems to know where the image is stored locally ?

if yours is a seperate jpg - can you let me know the file it is stored in please ?

i don’t understand enough about how jw library works to enable me to understand how this could be happening only on that one screen

thanks for your comments

I do not know much about this topic.

We have a printed yeartext. So we do not need the one from JW.Library.

You will find the yeartext here

C:\Users\YOURPC\AppData\Local\Packages\WatchtowerBibleandTractSo.45909CDBADF3C_5rz59y55nfz3e\LocalState\www\webapp

YearTextDisplay.bundle.js  and  yearTextDisplay.html  are working together.

If you rename   yearTextDisplay.html  for example to  yearTextDisplay.htm  (without l ) the yeartext is gone.

You can try this. Perhaps it will help.

But every month the yeartext is restored by the society and you have to do it again.

They are very smart - may I ask are these approved by the society for use or have they been designed locally?

Ours is simple text as per the first photo but I love the ones with the bible in.

do you have the issue mentioned above by The German in that every month you have to “reload” these after the society refreshes the official version ?

Quick update

Opened up JWLibrary this morning for the meeting and to start with you can see one of the symbols had disappeared and one of them is half hidden behind the years text.

JW library then randomly shut down 3 times and once stable again the symbols had all gone.

im confident however they will appear again so still need to investigate as it’s happened before

i did find the files referred to above but there doesn’t seem to be any editable/viewable files that show the years text.

on the assumption that the symbols are being generated by the local computer, I would like to understand how the symbol is half hidden by the years text. I assume the years text is in some form of text box, but how the the background being generated that that text box sits on.

Getting technical now but I’m determined to fix it !

Br. Darren, our congregation uses an Apple Mini-Mac computer.  The JW Library does not work on Mac (unless you run an emulator).  So the Society does not produce stuff for us, we have to gather it and put it together.  Our system allows JPEG (picture files) to be inserted at any time.  It also has a feature to display the "text picture" any time the screen is blank.

In a recent letter the elders were told that we could use scriptures on the screen (like in talks but not too many)  So if we can use them in talks, I guess you don't need special permission to use them where we were told to.

When we used SoundBox before JWLibrary had the capabilities it does now, we used to use the ad-on app it had to display all the "READ" scriptures in the lesson(s)

Now that we only use JWL - we no longer display the scriptures

It is a coincidence that today (Sunday) I was privileged to give the Public Talk i a congregation about 1 1/2 hours south of me.  When I looked at the monitors....see what I saw...

There back again !

given the years text is a screen supplied by the society - can anyone tell me, does the text and graphics they supply fill a whole screen - I am trying to work out (assuming the fault doesn’t lie at the societies end ) how additional text/symbols could possible appear and what software could be producing them ?

This might just be something we have to live with but it just doesn’t look good

Did you try a fresh instalation of windows? Or even try a different PC? I'm finding hard to believe that this is caused by the JWL app... JWL App has to interact with windows in order to have that image showing on the 2nd screen and maybe there are problems with the video driver or other dll's in the system...

One other test to do. Disconnect the 2nd monitor and put the year text with the focus on the PC. Does the icons show up? If not that's an indication that it has nothing to do with JWL... If yes may be the answer is the same... just make a clean install of all the system

Looking at the pictures 3 things come to mind.

1/ Reflections from something in or around the Hall.

2/ Maybe JW Library needs uninstalling then a fresh installer needs to be downloaded and run.

3/I use Linux at home not Windows. In Linux it's possible to have an application showing with a level of transparency so you can see other applications behind it. I don't know if that can be set in Windows but that may possibly explain the problem.

Do you remember how we used to get the yeartext send and it was a scene with the yeartext on it?

Well we have been creating or own for use with Soundbox but our new C.O said we shouldn't do that but just have the plain text in white on a black background and that we should be using JW Library.

We decided to go with just the White Text on the black background also.  It shows automatically on all of the monitors / video displays throughout the hall (including the second school room).

We were considering using a copy of the JWL text image (capture it) and move the "JW.org" logo to the lower left corner instead of the right corner - so we know if we are looking at the JWL one or the Windows one ... so we can be sure we have the JWL on the screen before starting a video.
