The topic of depression has been dealt with in many publications previously. And for good reason! Many of our brothers and sisters suffer from this unsettling and sometimes unexplainable illness. It's good to see something addressed specifically to adolescent depression again, as it was in 2017.

Thanks for reminding us about that video Eric. There were some excellent drawings/visuals that can even help adults in just trying to explain the feelings of depression. For example:

  •  There is the drawing of a person sending down a long rope into a deep pit to help a person who has fallen in. Being in a "deep pit" is how many have expressed their depression.
  • And when someone comes a long like a good friend or family member and tries to help them out, they may feel like, "... finally someone cares and is trying to send me a rope to help pull me out of this deep pit".
  • Then there is the drawing of the brain inside a person that has a sad face, this represents why a person feels so depressed, simply because the brain is sad.
  • And 1 of my favorites was the squiggly lines all jumbled together in a ball which represents the thoughts/feelings of a depressed person. Depressed people can relate with this drawing because their thoughts and feelings are so complex and confusing that they wonder if their thoughts/feelings will ever be straightened out.

So these were simple, yet powerful drawings/visuals and they easily express what would take a 1000 words or more to explain. :)

Nice summary Neil..your last point also may explain 'wild thoughts'.. If we know our brother we can choose to overlook some of the ststements he might make, as being temporary mixed feelings.
