For example on this day,  October 8 -  Jehovah's Witnesses in Armenia were registered. (October 8, 2004).

"Legal Developments

Armenia: After 15 applications, Jehovah’s Witnesses were finally registered on October 8, 2004. Nevertheless, young brothers continue to be imprisoned because of their conscientious objection to military service. (Isa. 2:4) We remain hopeful that this registration will allow our brothers religious freedom, enabling them to import literature and to hold conventions. In fact, in June 2005, the first officially imported literature shipment to Armenia was given customs clearance and released to the brothers." - yb06 pp. 6-30

Also on this day, in October 8 (or 15), 1944, the "2,300 mornings and evenings" of Daniel 8:14 ended. (Source: dp 177-179, 301)

On the annual meeting of that year (held October 2), membership in the Pennsylvania corporation became limited to 500, where each one must be a full-time servant of the Society or a part-time servant of a company [congregation] of Jehovah’s Witnesses and must show the spirit of the Lord.

Hence, Society directors were to be voted into office by individuals who were fully devoted to Jehovah, irrespective of the amount of money that they contributed to advance the Kingdom work. (Previously, the charter had provided that voting shares be issued to fund contributors to the Society’s work.)

Added what was involved in the 'restoration of the holy place to its right condition.'

October 10 - On October 10, 1949, the Department of Commerce declared that the activity of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Norway was to be regarded as being of “general interest” in the meaning of trade legislation, and that it, therefore, was unnecessary to get the permission of the police to share in such activity. The attorney general agreed with the point of view of the Department of Commerce. Consequently, the pioneers, who each had been sentenced to pay a fine of fifteen Norwegian kroner, were pardoned by Order in Council of March 10, 1950. -  yb77 pp. 192-241 Norway

October 11 -------October 11, 1987, was a day of good cheer for our brothers in Ecuador as the new branch office complex was dedicated by Brother Daniel Sydlik of the Governing Body. During his stirring dedication discourse to an audience of 5,500 persons, he said: “For a sacrifice to be meaningful to Jehovah, it must first mean something to us.” How true those words were, since over a three-year period, more than 200 Ecuadoreans and 270 other Witnesses from 14 countries had come to work at the branch site at their own personal expense! Even a 12-year-old boy wanted to contribute to the construction project and made, perhaps, the most heart-touching contribution of all. While dying of leukemia, he asked his mother to send his contribution of S/118 sucres (59 cents) to the brothers at the branch. -yb89 pp. 3-64

October 14- Stanley Jones and Harold King were placed under arrest on October 14, 1958. Before being brought to trial, they were detained for two years. During that time they were interrogated constantly. When finally taken to court in 1960, they were sentenced to long prison terms. Thus, in October 1958 the public activity of Jehovah’s Witnesses in China was forcibly brought to a halt. But their preaching never completely stopped. Even in prison and in labor camps, there were ways to witness.

At that 1942 assembly it was announced that representatives of the Watch Tower Society would regularly visit congregations of God’s people.

From October 15, 1946, onward some new features were to be introduced in connection with this work. The field would be divided into circuits, each of about twenty companies (congregations). These would be served for one week by the traveling overseers, primarily concerned with assisting the Witnesses in their house-to-house preaching. Twice a year all the congregations in a circuit would assemble at one point for a three-day circuit assembly, over which a “district servant” would preside.

October 17The Governing Body asked these brothers to make a study of all the printing branches around the world and to recommend ways to use these existing facilities to a greater degree. On the basis of the study group’s recommendations, on October 17, 2001, the Governing Body gave approval to regionalize the printing, with each region taking care of its own printing needs. The regions are Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and South America.

October 18- To keep pace with such growth, the facilities at the international headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Brooklyn and Wallkill, New York, need regularly to be expanded. October 18, 1986, saw the dedication of a recent major addition, the triple-wing, 176-room residence building at Watchtower Farms seen below. It will accommodate 346 of the more than 900 headquarters personnel living there.

Some 145 kilometers (90 mi) north of New York City, near the hamlet of Wallkill, New York, is a group of farms that have played an important role in the worldwide Bible educational work of Jehovah’s Witnesses. The first of the Watchtower Farms, as the facilities are now known .... on January 2, 1963.

That was 56 years ago. I have heard so much about the farms. A good time to do some digging.

Sorry for running ahead of time.

October 19, 1941 - Jamaica - All publications of the Watch Tower Society or International Bible Students Association were prohibited from entering the country. This was announced in the government’s official paper, the Jamaica Gazette. However, the organization was not outlawed, and there was still freedom of assembly.

October19, 1987 was the day of the now famous Crash of 1987, when Wall Street’s stock market took the deepest, fastest plunge in its history, setting off panic around the world.

October 19, 1989 - Those attending the Pioneer school held in the city of Santiago (Philippines) had to deal with an unexpected situation. Rodolfo de Vera, the circuit overseer, related: “On October 19, 1989, Santiago, Isabela, was struck without warning by a supertyphoon with maximum winds of 127 miles per hour [205 km/hr]. When we started our classes that morning in the Kingdom Hall, there were just some showers and a slight wind, so we proceeded with the pioneer school. However, the winds got stronger, and the building began to shake. Soon, the roof was blown off. We wanted to leave, but we saw that it was more dangerous outside because of the many flying objects.” Although the building began to break apart, all survived unharmed. They attribute their survival not only to Jehovah but also to a suggestion in the Awake! magazine to seek protection under a table or a desk during such situations. Brother de Vera said: “We took shelter under the tables. After the typhoon passed, we were covered with fallen branches and metal roofing sheets, but all who had stayed in the building under the tables were unhurt.”

October 19, 2002 - dedication program of Newburgh, NY, Assembly Hall. When the project in Newburgh was near completion, a fire broke out, damaging about 20 percent of the structure. Instead of giving in to discouragement, the brothers responded overwhelmingly to help restore the building. As a result, the restoration project was completed in less than a month, making it possible for the dedication program to be held right on schedule, on.
