Most of the singers I know would never want everyone to know it’s them. In many cases not even the friends in their own congregation know it’s them. It might be that pioneer who doesn’t make too much noise or give ‘unremarkable’ talks.

we could of had them as our preaching partner and we would never of known.

If they're in the same congregation, though, wouldn't friends recognize their voice?  I can think of several sisters and brothers who are good singers where, if they were singing an Original Song, I'd know it was them.

The "Truly in Love" brother... I know him; used to run in the same circles years ago back in Chicagoland.  😉

No, trust me, it’s very common that even close family members don’t figure it out. The singing voice differs a lot from the speaking voice. Add to that the idea that “nah, it can’t be...”

Interesting. Well, maybe they don't sing very much where others hear them?  Anyone who rides in a car with me will hear me singing to everything, plus I sing out in my congregation which does not sing very loud.  I'm pretty sure my mother would guess... 🤔

As I said, I recognized the Truly in Love brother. Also the Best Life Ever brother is one who goes to a congregation near me.  Everyone seems to know when it's Philip Ingram singing; there are several, quite distinctive voices on our recordings.  But maybe some don't easily recognize singing voices..

That is probably because you have an excellent ear for music, Sister Uani. :)

I am no expert at singing or music for that matter, but there was one sister in a cong who had an amazing operatic voice. Even in a large crowd of singers you could recognise her sweet and powerful voice. Even now after so many years I can close my eyes and hear her voice in my head.

Honestly, some even have trouble recognising even the readers, even when it’s a relative.

It has a lot to do with a person's ability to distinguish voices, sounds and tones.  We had a brother in our congregation (former professional musician).  He could hear a sister singing in one of our audio/video presentations and recognize her as the person singing in a commercial "voice over" presentation.  He checked and she was.  It all sound very nice to me but I can't pick out any individuals.

My father was riding in a car with a professional orchestral conductor.  They had the car radio playing some nice music.  The conductor kept "wincing" and my father asked what was wrong.  The conductor said, "the second violinist is flat."  My father told me that he did not even know there was a "2nd violin" playing.

Maybe it's just me, then. 😊  Back in 2011 (before Broadcast), Bro Schaefer was the speaker at our Circuit Assembly. His voice sounded very familiar so I asked him if he ever read the Wt or Awake recordings. He said, yes... he'd read a few..  😉

He has read a lot of books as well.

I just watched the broadcast. The bro in the Egyptian concentration camp Alphonse Tacklar was our Book study conductor years ago! Wow! Had no idea he suffered so much. What a loyal brother.
Was that in WA? A previous CO (Ted Bromwich) told me a detailed account of a brother's experiences. He met him on the Travelling work. There were so many parallels, especially about the beatings and another Bro fainted...
I wondered if this Bro Alphonse was ever in Australia, and I would have suspected this was the same account I heard about in the 70's. Now I'm convinced this is the one...
Interesting side point, the brother who acted the part of the prison chief was in the Melb 2019 audience...

  • 3 weeks later...

They say that (on this side of the system of things) that "nothing last forever. "  And yet,  my absolutely favorite original song has been replaced by November's Broadcast song.  Though "Your Word Endures Forever" will always have a special place in my heart, "Jehovah's Always By Our Side" will remain in the depths of my soul for a very long time to come.

Thank you Heavenly Father! ♥️
