Countries do interfere in other countries elections. Russia does, the US does. In Europe, the speculation is not whether interference is going on, but how it affects elections and the society as a whole. It has become clear, for instance, that a fear of of immigrants creates instability, which is excellent for nations such as Russia. So all they have to do is support anti-immigrant movements.
