Hi all!  I would like new and interesting illustrations on the importance of Jesus’ ransom sacrifice to use.  I know the illustration of the train switchman, which is really good.  Any of you have any that you like?  Long ones, short ones, I’d love to hear them all!

12 To illustrate: Imagine that you live in a town where most of the residents are employed at a large factory. You and your neighbors are well paid for your labors and lead comfortable lives. That is, until the day the factory closes its doors. The reason? The factory manager turned corrupt, forcing the business into bankruptcy. Suddenly out of work, you and your neighbors are unable to pay the bills. Marriage mates, children, and creditors suffer because of that one man’s corruption. Is there a way out? Yes! A wealthy benefactor decides to intervene. He appreciates the value of the company. He also feels for its many employees and their families. So he arranges to pay off the company’s debt and reopen the factory. The cancellation of that one debt brings relief to the many employees and their families and to the creditors. Similarly, the cancellation of Adam’s debt benefits untold millions.

IMAGINE that you are lying in a hospital bed. You are in a ward where everyone suffers from the same illness, a deadly disease with no known cure. When you learn that a doctor is spearheading an effort to find a cure, you are hopeful. You eagerly await news of any developments. One day, you learn that a cure has been found! The doctor behind the breakthrough made enormous sacrifices to make the cure possible. How would you respond? Surely your heart would swell with respect and appreciation for the man who opened a way for you and many others to be delivered from death.
 

16 Let us return to the illustration given at the outset. Suppose the doctor who finds the cure to the disease were to approach the patients in your ward with this offer: Any patient who accepts treatment and follows the prescribed regimen will without fail be cured. What if most of your fellow patients refused to follow the doctor’s direction, arguing that it would be too much trouble to take the medicine or adhere to the prescribed regimen? Would you go along with them, even though you had convincing evidence that the cure really worked? Of course not! No doubt you would express thanks for the cure and then follow the doctor’s instructions carefully, perhaps even telling others of your choice. In a far greater sense, each of us should be eager to show Jehovah just how much we appreciate the deliverance that he has made possible through the ransom sacrifice of his Son.—Read Romans 6:17, 18.

We had the video where a factory closes due to bad owners and then a generous man buys the company, pays the debts and rehires the workers.  It was a good video illustration.

Can I try this out, what do you think..
If you went to the doctor with a high fever. The doctor would ask you a series of questions. Why does he do that? He wants to establish the root cause of the problem. For example we have all heard of the Coronavirus outbreak recently. immediately, great efforts were made to find how, where and when it originated from, in order to find the cause and address it (to solve it). Finding the root cause is vital. How did it originate? Understanding how the disease spread is also an essential step in eradicating the sickness by finding a permanent cure.

 

The Bible tells us about a far more damaging infection which occurred early in mankind's history which led to the broken, sick world of today, it tells us the root cause of the sickness we all face and ..here’s the good part.. the Bible shows how the damage can be permanently reversed. Isn’t that good news?  How do you feel about that? Perhaps you have an infirmity you’d love to be cured. 

The Bible, God’s word, calls this sickness, (this infection) sin and death. By the way, unlike the coronavirus, the infection rate we are looking at here has a transmission rate of 100%, so we are all infected.

 

So, imagine you are the doctor, you ask: how, where and when this happened?

Lets get help from the Bible book of Romans, The apostle Paul was inspired by God to explain the root cause of the problem we all face…

Shall we look at it together...

(Ro 5:12) That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because they had all sinned—.

What do we learn?  The scriptures identify the root cause of sin and death.

The first man, Adam, had the prospect of living for ever.

His happy outlook of everlasting life depended on (one essential thing) his obedience to his loving creator, God.
