Over a year ago, a story here in Indiana made national headlines.  It was early in the morning (dark outside) when a school bus stopped on a highway to pick up children who lived at a trailor park.  All the children had to cross the highway to get to the bus.  Even though the bus had it's flashers on and stop arms extended, another young mother in a truck somehow managed to ignore the lights and ended up hitting 4 of the children with her truck going 55 miles per hour.  Only one child survived (with extensive injuries) and the 3 that died (a 9 year old girl and a set of younger twin boys) all belonged to one family..  It was devastating news here.  I remember immediately going to Jehovah in prayer that somehow this family would get a witness before the end.  So why do I tell you this now?

In a part on our midweek meeting, they invited pioneers on stage to give recent experiences. We have a mother/daughter pioneer combo.  The daughter used to go to school with the mother of these 3 children (her name is Brittany Ingle).  Way before this whole horrid incident happened, the mother and daughter pioneers used to study with her but she quit studying way before this incident happened.  The mother related last night that she got a call from Brittany a couple of days ago requesting a bible study again!!!  The whole family has been in real bad shape emotionally and mentally since this happened.  Brittany said that her husband (the father of the children) talks about wanting to die everyday and the one child they have left (a 13 year old girl) is always on suicide watch. They need the kingdom good news so badly!!!  Please, if you can remember, pray for this young mother - that Jehovah open her devastated heart to his precious truths and for the mother and daughter pioneers who will be studying with her (Rache and Gretchen) as it will no doubt be emotionally draining for them at times.

By the way, the young mother driving the truck that hit and killed the children, had her two young children in the truck when it happened.  The court case was this last September and she only got 2 years and then 10 years with no drivers license.  (Her husband is a local pastor) It was a very upsetting verdict for the mother of the 3 children, she is struggling to understand why the community isn't more upset with the person who killed her children.  (Many feel it was just a horrible mistake, not paying good enough attention to what was going on around her - it was premeditated.  Many also feel that so much as already been lost and now her children will lose their mother for a period of trime as well)  The daughter tried to relate to Brittany, over the phone, about Jehovah's forgiveness even in areas where the course people took was premeditated (as in the case of King David and Bathsheba).  She said Brittany got some comfort from that.  So forgiveness will be key to all of them getting any peace in their lives I think.

Sad event.

😥

I don't think premeditated is the right word:  Premeditate  'think out or plan (an action, especially a crime) beforehand.'

I am not sying I am Superman, I am only saying that nobody has ever seen Superman  and me in a room together.

https://www.kiro7.com/news/local/15-million-cars-illegally-pass-school-bus-stop-paddles-yearly-data-shows/913626585/

"According to the National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services, on a single school day bus drivers reported 83,944 vehicles passed their stop paddles illegally. That adds up to more than 15 million violations every school year."

This is alarming, also not having seat belts in school buses in most states! Shocking!

I talked to the pioneer sister Sunday morning and she said Brittany was supposed to call her that night so that they could set up a time to study (I think she said that Brittany wants to study on Monday's).  The pioneer sister is concerned over whether she can handle the emotional aspect of the study as well.

Such a tragedy for this family!  My deepest condolences to all of them!  We will keep the parents and the child who is suffering nightmares, in our prayers.  Yes, we want the parent's hearts to be wide open to Jehovah's words, and a wonderful future.  The mother who ran that bus stop on the bus, is in sad condition too.  Tragedies for both families.  In my state, if any vehicles pass the bus when the stop sign comes out, it's a $500.00 fine plus a point on your driving record.  If you get 3 more, you lose your license, and the fine jumps up to $5,000.00.  Jail time if your convicted in manslaughter, or out right murder (if proven).

I think the state of Indiana bears some culpibility in this whole tragedy too.  About 8 years ago or so, the govenor (Pence) decided that all of a sudden Indiana should be on daylight savings time (we never were before, to this day no one can figure out who it actually benefits except the golfers who want to golf longer at night).  If it weren't for this change to daylight savings time the children would not have to board the buses in the pitch black dark and why should they have to CROSS a major highway to get to the bus in the first place????? A place with as many children as a trailor park has should have a school bus turn around nearby for the bus driver to use before picking up the kids and then afterwards so they don't have to cross a highway in the dark.

I do remember reading about this terrible tragedy at the time, even here in New Zealand. May Jehovah comfort these poor broken hearted parents and their daughter with hope, and rebuild their ruined lives. It would be hard to even imagine the pain they've gone through. I'll keep them in my prayers.
