Noooooooooooooo 😢

The 118-year-old department store is by far the biggest retail casualty of the coronavirus pandemic.

Friday, May 15, 2020 6:52 PM EST

Its collapse follows other retail bankruptcies this month, including J. Crew, the Neiman Marcus Group and the designer men’s clothing brand John Varvatos.

"J.C. Penney, with its budget-friendly clothing for families and reliable home furnishings, was for years a cornerstone of American malls and an undeniable success story. What started as a humble dry goods store in Wyoming in 1902 was a century later a national chain with a household name and more than 1,000 locations.

But on Friday, the company filed for bankruptcy protection after a prolonged decline over the past 20 years, becoming the latest and largest retailer to fall during the coronavirus pandemic, which has devastated the industry. The chain has more than 800 stores and nearly 85,000 employees."

I read an article a couple months ago that predicted several companies would file after the C-19 problems ... JC Penny was one of the companies mentioned

Doesn't surprise me a bit :nope:

I also read that, what is left of Sears/Kmart will file and close what stores are left open and both those entities will be no more

Sears in our area closed about two months ago! We‘re getting a Publix! Pretty good news for me!

Even here in the far east, many supermarkets including a few well known high end outlets had been closing down in the later part of 2019 and 1st 2 months of 2020. I was carting home trolleys load of groceries home after each closure. Most of these supermarkets were owned by Hong Kong billionaires. Well known outlets like Cold Storage and Jason Food Hall. The low end ones are Giant and a few Tesco hypermarkets. If only these entrepreneurs had seen the pandemic coming, they could have recoup some of their previous losses from the surge in panic buying.

I was so angry at all the sniggerings I receive from everyone because my trolleys were always so full of these heavily discounted items from the supermarkets. Everyone used to make fun of me, like asking me if I was opening up a store. But like the saying goes, he who laughs last, laugh best.

Scientists have discovered that daydreaming is an important tool for creativity. It causes a rush of activity in a circuit, which connects different parts of the brain and allows the mind to make new associations.

Thanks! My first Publix experience was in Miami on a job! People at that time were walking around Miami with cell phones almost as big and bulky as a mans shoe! Thinking about now is hilarious.

I was very impressed with Publix though.
