Anyone ever given it a try?

 

I recently downloaded Blender and messed around with it some, did the beginner donut tutorial on youtube (the one that teaches you fundamentals) and came out with this:

Well I had to go to play store to find out what Blender is, and I'll give you a star for your first attempt without having any idea what it is 🌟😄

Yeah. Open Source, forever free. It used to be really complicated but with 2.8 and now 2.9 they've made it much more simpler and user friendly. They've also added a bunch of new features such as sculpting, poly-modeling, texturing, shading, animation, compositing, and even 2D animation with the grease pencil.

Blender is a very good piece of software now. Much easier now. Can’t go wrong with it really. 
Sculpting is almost as good as 3dcoat and zbrush and they cost hundreds each. In many ways it’s better as it’s free. 
When it comes to 3D, remember if it looks right, it is right.

 

It can also be used to create 2d animation as well.

I assume that you have used these tutorials:

You did a great job. I'm curious, how is your development in 3D modeling going today? 
 

I just started learning Blender and Unity and making characters.
 

My dream is to create games based on biblical stories. And I hope that these skills will be useful to our brothers and sisters in the branch.
 

My first project will be an illustration of the flood on behalf of Noah. I will make it as a free world in VRChat game.
 

I also know that @Igorianov on this forum is interested in Blender.

Well I have finally moved to Blender as of version 3 as my main 3d app. With my gfx card it really has become a great option for rendering animations now .
