What do you think? Would you like to work 4.5 or 4 days?

The United Arab Emirates announced all government entities will adopt a new work-week schedule consisting of four-and-a-half days with Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday forming the new weekend.https://www.aljazeera.com/economy/2021/12/7/uae-announces-changes-to-workweek-for-employees-of-govt-sector

I thought we had already cut back years ago. I remember hearing it somewhere... Or maybe it was someone's joke. Yeah, I think that was it. Um... if I recall correctly:

After years and years of negotiating with management, the union had an eventful meeting! They had finally cut a new contract, and everyone was excited when the union head made the announcement:

"From now on we only have to work on Wednesdays!"

But then, after the applause finally died down, some turkey in the back of the union hall put up his hand and said:

"Every Wednesday...?"

In Queensland you are pushed to find any workers past mid-day on Friday. They all head off fishing. Still a 38 hour week, but longer shifts to finish at noon on Friday. It took me a bit to get used to when we moved there...

There are some companies and Gov't departments here that work 4-10's instead of 5-8's and most of the people who wrok that shcedule say they would never want to go back to 8 hour days if it means working 5 days a week again.

I worked a 4/10 hour rotating shift between 3 crews every 3 weeks, it was crazy, the only good thing was every 3 weeks we had 5 days off, Friday thru Tuesday , however the Friday started after you had worked to 3 am Friday morning! Back to day shift on Wednesday. 😵 Melatonin anybody?

We have mill workers that do the same shift, they say it's hard but still are ok with it.
