NW Scheduler/Publisher - Updates, Support, and Suggestions

Not sure why someone would be angry with me over my previous comment.

not angry over the comment, angry over the situation.  angry over point #3.  We have 150 publishers 1/3 of which are technically challenged and had to be reconnected manually.  Angry at lackadaisical programmers.  At 5 minutes per publisher (which is what it is averaging for our publishers) that's 4 hours of lost time.  Multiply that by thousands of congregations and it becomes clear that this upgrade was a  colossal mess.  And sadly it's not the first time an upgrade caused problems.

Good morning dear brothers, I have a problem with a brother's PC that we have entered on Nw scheduler, he took this PC yesterday in the shop a surface pro 5, a good PC, but when he clicks on brothers, or assigns a territory, it crashes and restarts the program, I also tried to use my administrator account but it does the same, I attach an image of the PC's features, a hug to everyoneImmagineWhatsApp2025-02-27ore17_45.29_67d9d646.thumb.jpg.23b99596b34c9d62f899ba336688ce1a.jpg

This screen shot just tells you about the hardware of the surface pro and the windows operating system, but it doesn't tell you anything about the error that caused it. To do this you need to go into Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Event Viewer. There you find the Windows logs and look what error entries in the application part of the logs..

My first step would be, uninstall NW Scheduler (NWS), delete the directory entry where it was installed. Then shut down, NOT restart, then power it back on and do a fresh install of NWS.

Send App Data [No Longer Current Documentation]
https://nwscheduler.com/how-to/nw-publisher-app/app-send-and-receive-data/#Common_Questions_and_Problems

In the latest version of the Scheduler the Send App Data in the documentation is no longer reflecting what is shown on my screen. There is NO Prepare and Send, there is only "Send With Notifications" and "Send Without Notifications". What does this do? Is there a separate notification sent to the NWP app for each publisher?

After the migration to the latest versions the Custom buttons for a territory were lost and disabled. After changing back the custom buttons the way they were before and enabling them, now in the Send App page there is now an entry to be sent. Should it be sent WITH or WITHOUT Notifications or does it even matter?

In the previous version you could directly send the arrangements and trigger the notifications, or you could first prepare them and delete some or all. That was practical if you understood how it worked, but most users did not.

The new version replaces that with just two option: either all notifications are sent, or none at all. It's a bit less flexible but easier to understand.

Of course, most data sent doesn't even trigger a notification. Only those related to assignments and tasks do.

That is what puzzles me, notifications can be good if the user infrequently uses the NWP app and annoying for those who regularly monitor the app. But still I like to know how this works. If the device allows NWP to send notifications than what events or changes trigger a notification? Have there been bad experiences with sending the data without notifications? Just couldn't find any documentation on it. In the past I just clicked the send button.

IMO notifications are necessary. If you are not notified you have a part at the meeting, chances are that you will never know.

I don't find them too annoying. You get one when you are assigned a talk or a task, then you receive another one week in advance. Users can set these up as they wish.

You can adjust the reminder notification under the "Settings". Tap the gearwheel (located in the upper right corner of the home screens on my phone) and tap "Reminders" and you can set when to receive reminders for assignments, duties, congregation events. There is the setting for the initial reminder and a separate one for the final reminder for each of these categories.

I find the reminders quite useful.

If you find the notification annoying, you can turn them off in settings as well

I just realized we are mixing two different things.

Notifications are sent when someone is assigned a talk or a task. The elder who assigns them can choose to send a notification or not.

On the other hand, reminders can be adjusted by the user. In principle they are set to send one six days before, and another 24 hours before. Users can change that to any other period they prefer or even suppress them.

New World Scheduler Native macOS Version

There is currently no native macOS version of New World Scheduler. Please use one of the options above for running New World Scheduler on macOS.

We have started developing a native macOS version of New World Scheduler. Due to the large time and expense involved, this may be ready sometime in 2025.

Please keep us updated on this.

I like the new feature. The brother would post the Hall Care assignments for months in advance and then sometimes change them, so everyone in the congregation would receive multiple notifications. It could be very annoying to get multiple notifications months in advance. Now, he can post the Hall Care assignments months in advance without sending any Notifications.

thanks dear for the advice, I'll try it tonight and update you, hugs

I just noticed something strange. I added a congregation event and send it with notifications. Some of the recipients on the list had this text: Senderid mismatch.
I have never seen that one before, have you? I could not find anything about this on nw website either.
Unfortunately I did not take any screenshot of it.

I didn't realize that these 2 actions have different results. What's the difference?

Yes, there is a difference between restarting a PC and shutting it down then turning it back on; when you restart, the computer completely shuts down and then immediately powers back on, while shutting down simply turns off the power, requiring you to manually turn it back on later, which means a restart essentially performs a full system reset while a shutdown just closes all programs and exits the operating system without resetting anything.

I have done this ever since I had some problematic installations. A restart doesn't wipe out any Klingons from poor programmed software :lol1:

Quick question about the campaign feature in the territory section. When assigning lets say 5 territories to an active campaign can publishers choose any of these 5 territories to work or will they have to work the 1st and when that one is done move to the next?

A territory checked out appears as the 1st one in the owners territory page but is sorted numerical for all others. Is there a way to change the sort order of the territories for all publishers in the NWP app? Will the campaign territories only be different in color or will they also be having a different position in the territory page?

Thanks, getting ready for the memorial invitation campaign.

You get this error message when the recipient is not yet updated to the latest version of the app. You can check this under App Persons and/or App Devices. Ask them to update to the latest version.

That makes sense. If the sender is using the new regional server and the recipient is still on the old server, it makes sense to me there would be a problem.

Just downloaded another android update.

So many updates.

Sound good but I am pretty sure the person who had this mismatch was on the new server. I can only see names of those that are on same server as me, right?
I need to make a new cong event, maybe Cakeparty at someone else... and see if I get same message again. 😁

grazie cara per il consiglio, proverò stasera e ti aggiornerò, abbracci

hi dear, I did the test you suggested, but it didn't work.
But I have more information to give you, on the home screen where there is the congregation information, in all the other accounts I see the year 2025, in this one I see 2021, in fact it gives me an error at the bottom of the page that the license has expired, but only on this pc, I tried to delete everything and also clean the windows registry, but nothing, I always get 2021 and I think that's where the problem is, I also used my administrator account, logging in immediately with this, but nothing.
Do you have any suggestions? thanks
