It was so encouraging. Such a faithful brother who endured so much. Such wonderful love for Jehovah and the truth.

 

There is another article, at the bottom of the page, written for the 25th anniversary in 2018, which covers some of the same information but has other bits not included in this one.

I remember that case when it was a hot topic. The priests in the Greek Orthodox Church were praising their flock for making themselves manifest at the riot they were encouraged to attend. They had also been encouraged to "smash their heads in" as they shouted to their congregants! (That is so sickening. :sick:)

 

In court, the priests had claimed that Jehovah's Witnessing were being financed by the Jews to destroy Christianity. Not only JWs, but also the Jews were countering that claim in court. But it's a claim we still hear today from time to time by Greek Orthodox people. (I wonder who finances Jehovah's Witnesses in Israel.)

 

It wasn't until after the ECHR's decision that things calmed down for the brothers in Greece. It took time, but Jehovah acted on behalf of his people.
