US Post Office wants to raise stamp prices (again)

Recommended Posts

First part of the article states:

"If the U.S. Postal Service gets its way, the price of a first-class stamp will go up for the fourth time in less than two years.

The USPS is proposing hiking the cost of a first-class stamp to 73 cents, or roughly 7% on all forms of postage.

If approved, the plan, which was announced on Tuesday, will raise the price of metered 1-ounce letters to 69 cents, international ounce-size letters and postcards to $1.65 and domestic postcards to 56 cents.

The proposal has been sent to the independent Postal Regulatory Commission for final approval. If the commission signs off, the new prices will take effect in July."

O USPS propõe aumentar o custo de um selo de primeira classe para 73 centavos, ou cerca de 7% em todas as formas de postagem.

Speaking of badges, does the organization still receive badges? In the 90s we used to cut about 5 centimeters from each side of a stamp on a letter, put it all together and give it to an elder who sent it to the then Watch Tower Society, as over time it had considerable value and the organization sold it, using such values in promoting the work of the Kingdom, with the advent of technology, letters have become scarce and I don't know if the organization still uses stamp collections.

Our stamps in Australia quietly increased to $1.50 from $1.20 on 3 April. We were caught off guard and now have to buy 10c stamps to make up the difference. That’s a 30% increase. And all other postal services have also jumped up around 20-25%.

Like the government, they do not how to run their business. They need to make cut backs like canceling Saturday services. To make an extra point, I strongly be believe the postal service are mostly run by aliens too.

A lot of people do not realize that the USPS does not receive any money from taxes.  (Although, at one time, the USPS made a profit for the year and the government took the profit.)  All of their income comes from the sale of Postage stamps.  The postage goes up to pay for all the expenses incurred.

It becomes an expense to send out mail by postal service today. UK prices are, currently £1.35 for first class and £0.85 for second class. Most of our contact that is not in person is done by WhatsApp, mobile phone and Email these days, probably in that order of priority too.
