Do you remember the Slide Programs? (Do you still have access to them?)

Recommended Posts

There is a Slide Program that I would love to see again, it is:
"What Bible Lands Tell Us" (1980)
Does anyone have access to this?

Background:
For those who are newer in the truth, before the 1990s the only visual media that we saw was the occasional Slide Program.
There is a list of these here:
https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1200275377#h=11
These were mostly superseded by VHS, then DVD, and now broadcasting.

The one that stood out to me as a younger person was:
"What Bible Lands Tell Us" (1980)
It included Hezekiah’s tunnel, and it had a powerful effect on me.
Some COs who presented it told me it was their favorite one.

Back in the 1990s one brother in a circuit would keep hold of a copy of them, and the public talk coordinators could request to borrow them from him if they wanted to have them shown in their congregation. I do not know if anyone has gone and digitized the above, or if they have all been lost and forgotten.

Is there a congregation where you live, since it's an area that's considered inhospitable and uninhabited, according to Wikipedia?

The Antipodes Islands (Māori: Moutere Mahue, lit.'Abandoned Island') are inhospitable and uninhabited volcanic islands in subantarctic waters to the south of – and territorially part of – New Zealand. The 21 km2 (8.1 sq mi) archipelago lies 860 km (530 mi) to the southeast of Stewart Island / Rakiura, and 730 km (450 mi) to the northeast of Campbell Island.[1]

I remember the slide presentations.  We would move the stage furniture and the lectern to the side or back.  The CO would bring a little table and put his slide projector on in.  He usually used the middle of the 2nd or 3rd row of auditorium seats.  He needed a long extension cord (usually taped to the floor) and a tiny light or lamp to read the book with the captions in it,  Some of our halls had sound so we would need a microphone at his station.

One of my pioneer partners got the congregation servant to agree to let him make up a public talk with slides.  I helped him take pictures of the Bible verses he wanted to share.  We took the pictures, enlarged them and had slides made to show the scriptures being cited.  It was fun, but we only did it once.

We had some 16mm film presentations as well.  Those movies needed about the same preparation except the film had sound built-in.

 The Antipodes....

In the UK they colloquially use “Antipodes" to refer to Australia and New Zealand.
Sorry if it is not as exotic/mysterious as it sounds. 😊
