NW Scheduler PDF Font Mismatch Between Windows and Mac

When I open the pdf files on Windows, they look good.  But when I open on the Mac, they look "wonky" (I believe that's a technical term).  If you have observed this, I'm hoping that this write up will help you.  I've been using NWS/NWP for 20 months now and I really love the platform.  I'm the secretary in my congregation, so I'm in the app, nearly every day.

 

I use a Mac as my daily driver, so I have a Windows PC in my home office that is always on, for running NWS.  I treat it "like" a cloud server, so I can get to it anytime from any other device, virtually anywhere.  But NWS naturally run on Windows, including NWS reporting.  Often, I save the reports to pdf, and store them on a cloud drive that is accessible to both my Windows PC and my Mac.   

 

Anyway, I was able to solve the problem with the help of AI, specifically Gemini.  The problem was that a PDF created on a Windows PC rendered with a different font on a Mac because the correct font was not available on the Mac. The fix involved these high-level steps:

1. Identify the Font: The user identified the specific font (Calibri) that was used on the Windows PC.

2. Transfer the Font: The user copied the font files from the Windows PC to the Mac.

3. Install the Font: The user installed the correct font files on the Mac using Font Book.

4. Confirm and Resolve: After the correct font was installed, the PDF rendered properly, solving the issue.
