I think always concerning Governing body that 2026 and why not #1 will be the year of importants changes. Do you have read in the last watchtower the life of brother Splane ?  And do you have remarks anything concerning our subject ?

Pretty good article. He was born in the time when Frank Roncarreli and Maurice  Duplessis  were  fighting in the court, plus the Quebec burning hate time too. The French language is different in Quebec than in France.

Quebec French is called Quebecois. It is different than Northern Ontario French and different than Acadian French which is supposed to the purest French in the world. Parisian French has changed since I took it in high school last century. 🫣🤐 Almost 60 years ago.

Interesting that he worked with brother Glenn Howe, a very prominent lawyers QC. Queen's Council lawyer.

I 1st heard bro Howe at a convention circa 1970 as a special talk one evening during convention.

In 1990's I called on a retired judge Parry Sound ON who sat on cases Glenn was representing brothers on blood issue.

The former judge considered Glenn a good friend and I believe he said he was at Glenn's wedding when Glenn remarried after death of 1st wife.

Small world.

I do not know Quebec French, yet my ancestors our from there. There is a grave yard down the street from me about a mile that has my ancestors there on a certain area of the cemetery. There was a French community in my neighboring town in the past have disappeared. Yes, I have Canadian French and French in me. Believe me, they both have different looks too.

In reality, Quebec French is not so unlike standard French that the two cannot understand each other. The expressions used and the pronunciations of some words may be different, but they can still talk to each other without any difficulty. The words are mostly the same, but other nuances can be accommodated. Supposedly, Quebec French is the same French that was spoken in France at the time of Louis the 14th, but the French in France has evolved since then. The Quebecois here pride themselves on that heritage. However that story is debatable.

But the real problem is that when an English-speaking person learns French in school first tries to speak, almost no one can understand them! They aren't used to the English accent, and that throws them off. It can be the most degrading thing when an English-speaking person speaks French to a French householder, and the householder says he doesn't speak English! (I know; I went through that phase.)

In a couple of months, it will have been 30 years since I came back to an English congregation. I've lost a little bit of my French from lack of use, but I can still handle it pretty well whenever I need to. It's still a joy to visit a French congregation for a meeting once in a while. After all this time, I can understand everything, but I still hear the difference between the English and French brothers: The French sing louder!
