It would be. I reported all the fake accounts. But I’m surprised how fast those fake accounts appeared!

Thanks for reporting the fake ones. Instagram is more proactive in removing them.

TikTok, on the other hand, is trickier so I can’t report it properly unless I go TikTok website.

Zeph 3:17 Jehovah your God is in the midst of you. As a mighty One, he will save. He will exult over you with rejoicing. He will become silent in his love. He will be joyful over you with happy cries....... Love it....a beautiful word picture.

Only approved members can participate, if it's moderated like JWtalk there shouldn't be an issue

Hi! I occasionally participate in this subreddit. In my opinion, they have good rules to avoid bad behavior. Only pre-approved posts and comments can be shared.

People are using social networks more than anything else.
So this is a test program to show our news to the people who stay on these networks.

We try it, and we will see if it's ok or not.
We aren't prophets, so we need to try stuff to see if Jehovah bless it or not.

Be patient and wait on Jehovah.

If I may say so: it’s just a media tool that gives Jehovah’s Witnesses a lot of visibility. All the press offices and legal departments are networking to keep up with global news. Why wouldn’t the Governing Body want to raise awareness about the situation of our brothers who are being persecuted around the world?

It’s also being presented as a trial run. Time will tell whether the decision to communicate through these networks was the right one or not. In the meantime, it’s been officially announced in congregations around the world.

Ok I dont think Jehovah is going to bless instagram or tiktok. What a rubbish trial and waste of your time trial.

There is JW press room ot Jesus witness, how confusing.

Do you expect people to distinguish between them both?

Just stick to the real website JW.org

I understand why some may find this surprising. At first, it can be hard to imagine the organization using Instagram or TikTok, especially because many of us personally do not view social media as a good use of time.

But we should remember a few things:

• Anything the organization officially launches or announces would need to be approved by the Governing Body. Nobody can just impromptu create an official account and represent the organization.

• JW Pressroom is not a random social media page. There is a dedicated social media team under the Office of Public Information of Jehovah’s Witnesses that manages the account.

• The purpose of JW Pressroom is mainly to provide factual information about Jehovah’s Witnesses for government officials, journalists, academics, and members of the public.

• It is not primarily designed for publishers. However, many publishers will naturally follow the account because that is how social media works, and that support can help the JW Pressroom pilot program succeed.

• This is currently a pilot program, similar to how JW Broadcasting started as something new in 2014 and later became a major tool for the organization.

• The media landscape has changed a lot. Many people today do not first go to an official website when they want news or information. They often see news first on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, or other social media platforms. News website use has declined while social media and video platforms continue to grow as places where people discover information.

• Because of that, opposers and malicious people can spread fake news and misinformation very quickly. On social media, one misleading video, fake news, or edited clip can spread like wildfire before many people ever check the facts. That can greatly damage the reputation of the organization, especially when people who are not Jehovah’s Witnesses do not know where to find accurate information.

• So if the organization only stayed on a website and did not act on social media, many people would only see what opposers are saying. Providing real and factual information directly on social media helps circumvent that. It gives government officials, journalists, academics, and the public a direct source of accurate information where many of them are already looking.

• The organization understands that fake news can be damaging if it is not addressed. JW Pressroom on social media can help provide factual information and counter misinformation.

• JW Pressroom is not meant to directly spread the good news. That still remains through the house-to-house ministry, public witnessing, and other forms of preaching.

• If you are still hesitant or unsure whether JW Pressroom is real, you can call the branch office directly and ask. You can also ask to be directed to the Office of Public Information and ask them questions, since that is part of the role of OPI.

Of course, that is your choice. I check Jw.org daily. However, I also get news from social media. Humor incoming: I no longer read the paper. 🤭 Also, we - hubby and I - no longer subscribe to cable. My understanding is that it is to reach out to so so many who only use these sites to keep informed. Let's see how Jesus directs the FDS

I am reminded of the verse at Isa 60:16 =  "And you will actually drink the milk of nations, At the breast of kings you will nurse; And you will certainly know that I, Jehovah, am your Savior, And the Powerful One of Jacob is your Repurchaser."

I will tell you truthfully it won't last long, just stick with Jw.org. im not being old school.

Anyone that doom scrolls which there is nothing wrong with we all do it on our phones.

But instagram and tiktok gets a endless amount of information and opinions.

And what it can lead to is exactly  what James 1:8 says a unsteady man indecisive in all his ways. To much unsteady information.

I'm sure that WHQ is fully aware of that, that's why it was announced as a pilot program.

The GB wouldn't have started the pilot program if they thought it was a waste of time. Give it a chance, it show our trust and support of Jehovahs organization.

I assume the meetings in most congregation in the east just ended, cause the followings increases so fast.

It's possible that several congregations will be holding their Circuit Assembly (as is the case for me) or Regional Convention this week and won't be holding meetings at their congregation. The announcements will be made next week, between Monday, June 8th, and Friday, June 12th. Therefore, they won't officially know about the announcements on the official jw_pressrom accounts until next week. Perhaps after next week, they might be able to announce something on the official JW.ORG website, if all goes well.

Years ago, Watchtower.org was started as a pilot program. Many then felt it was wrong and wouldn't last.

Use the Internet??

Ridiculous!!

We now have JW.org as a main source of information and spiritual food.

I am not an Instagram or TikTok user, but I do understand that many are and go there for useful information as well as entertainment - just like they do websites.

Just a reminder that this pilot program is intended for government officials, reporters, and researchers, not as a supplement to preaching. Also, the comments section was turned off and may stay that way permanently, so it's not about having discussions with people - just posting links to the news section of our website.

Posting the exact same articles from the website onto social media does not make the information "unsteady". The official channels have verified blue checkmarks so people know which one is real. We can do far more by praying for a beneficial outcome than we can by hoping it fails.

If our brothers in the GB who pray for holy spirit before these decisions are made thinks this may be a direction to go in; than a positive spirit is what we need to have about it. I hope it succeeds in whatever the brothers want it to succeed in. If it doesn't than it doesn't. We will see so many changes as the end gets closer. We can ask why, and the GB has always explained their thoughts on changes that are made. My husband reminds me often how some thought having a VCR was "evil". Look at where we are now and how Jehovah has used technology. We will see where this goes.
