JW Pressroom on Social Media

  I know if Jehovah wants this to succeed it'll be successful,  but I feel like some want it to fail for whatever personal reason they have.  If my family has a goal even though I may not be asked to do anything to help specifically,  I still want to do whatever little thing i can, to help it succeed. I'm not saying if you don't have social media you have to now get on social media.  That's your personal choice,  but I'm going to do what I can even though the contribution is a small

one, to help.

I think it may be like a news channel for non believers,and news reporters. We will get the content that the account posts from updates and jw broadcasting. But my friend in my hall said she follows the account which should be OK to do

It's legitimate they announced it at my hall. The thing I'm worried about is what if the younger generation gets to it and edits it into a meme or ai generate it to say something werid

In English 'sympathy' is 'compassion', and looking for sympathy or garnering sympathy has a negative connotation of playing the victim or exaggerating a situation so that others take sides with you. That's definitely not what those media account intend to do.

 

In Spanish, French and other languages we have exactly the same word 'sympathy' but it means "being friendly" or 'likeable'. We do want people to learn about our faith and see the positive aspects of it.

 

I hope this helps everyone to understand where each other is coming from.  The Devil is in the nuances. 

 

This is what I have always thought- and I speak all the English ☺️. I've been trying to figure out what was so upsetting about anyone showing or receiving sympathy/ compassion.. to anyone

The cart work started as a pilot program and I'm sure some felt the same way you do. The idea of standing in public for hours where people could ridicule and abuse you probably sounded like a bad idea. No doubt some didn't think it would work. Here is a nice video about how that pilot program turned out.

Your not a bad person, the org using it for this purpose isnt a recommendation or stimulance for us using it also for other purposes.

 

For my personal use I despise these platforms, the surveillance capitalism it brings, the wholesale influencing of people and governments by the power its ownership gives, the billions the owners spend on weapon industry, lobbying against mankind and the destruction of our environment because of the computing power, energy and water etc.

 

I know only Jehovah can solve this so I be patience. Doesnt mean I support it in the meantime. Our dependence on those systems is also imaginary.

 

So I avoid them, but I dont stumble if others use FB, IG, WA, X, TT etc.
