Wich book is this?

In next week's 'Treasures from God's Word' section, there's a picture showing an old, black New World Translation Bible and the Sing Praises to Jehovah songbook. But the green book, actually, it looks like “Things in Which It Is Impossible for God to Lie.” Is that right?"

I agree with the above assessment. As closely as I can see, that green book is one of the old Bibles. The title on the spine takes five lines, but the title on 'Things in Which it is Impossible for God to Lie' is six lines. Taking a closer look, the last two lines seem to begin with a capital H and a capital S.

The audio description only specifies older editions (plural) of the NWT. So the 2 bibles depicted are black and the other green. 

 

The green NWTs were pretty thick, especially the early ones when they finally had the entire Bible

The shelf is missing Rutherfords Rainbow books. Not good.

The New World Bible Translation Committee began in 1950.  They released six volumes over the next 10 years. Maybe the green one on the shelf is one of those volumes.

 

The first release was the entire Christian Greek Scriptures. 

Second release was the first 8 books of the Hebrew Scriptures.

Third release ~ The next 9 books, through Esther.

Fourth release ~  The next 5 books, through the Song of Solomon

Fifth release ~  The next 3 books, through Lamentations.

Sixth volume ~  Ezekiel, Daniel and the minor prophets, through Malachi

 

In 1961 the brothers made one bound Bible , and, shall we say ,  it was a brick  😂  Probably almost 4 inch's thick.

Maybe it's the 1970 Revision, thickness looks similar, though the shade of green is slightly different 🤔

Good reminder, Doug. I believe that the work on the Greek text started in December 1947. It was a task of some size yet the brother on the translation team finished for release at the August District Assembly (Regional Convention). The full students bible with all volumes included is just over 2.5" think (I just measured it).

I believe the book is "The Nations Shall Know That I am Jehovah" - How?". Not only does the color match in our older book list in the JW Library app, but the title ties in with the illustration in our lesson showing a woman looking out the window at ones preaching in the neighborhood! I googled and these images came up.

One of the two Insight volumes—could the lighting be causing the color to look a little different, perhaps?

It's the 60's or 70's NWT edition. The binding was half inch taller than the modern bibles we have today

Here is a picture I just took in my library.  The green book to the right is the original 1961 NWT,  The brown songbook is from 1984.  Any of our black NWT Bibles can be the one on the left.  The one I grabbed was a bit more used and had 'spread' out a little.  As Br. Shawn said, the caption refers to "older translations of the NWT and a songbook".

It appears that that is what the writing ✍️ says, but I don’t recall the green Bible being tall like that, my thought 💭.

It is interesting to place a 'timeline' on the picture.  The woman looking out the window had the books for some years.  The black NWT does not look as used as the green one. She may have had them as a teenager and then left the Truth.  The oldest timeframe would be limited to 40 years.  The books would have been updated about 20 years ago.  As a guess, she has been gone 20-40 years.  If she was 16-18 years old when she left, she would be in her mid-late 30s to mid 50s now when she is looking out the window.  My guess might be that she is in her 40s and has been away from the Truth for 25-30 years?  Never give up hope...♥️

The 1961 first edition was taller and matched the other books we had at the time.  A few years later we shrank the overall height of all of our books (Bibles included). See picture below.

A revised KIT with 2013 revision would be a great research tool.
