The United States is not the only country with nuclear weapons.   The US President is not the only leader with a button to push.

Could AI trigger a nuclear war ?

Could? Possibly. If not today, then maybe tomorrow. There are plenty of movies that warn of such an event. In real life there has been at least (maybe more) where a nuclear launch was almost triggered due to an accident.  For example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1983_Soviet_nuclear_false_alarm_incident

Is it likely? No.  Am I worried in the slightest? Absolutely not. Why do I say this?

From my understanding, a nuclear war would destroy much of the planet Earth. In fact, so much would be destroyed that this would affect Bible prophecy. Nobody's going to saying, thinking, or believing in "Peace and Security" when they are digging all the major cities out of nuclear rubble while millions die from starvation, disease, and radiation exposure. Therefore, my faith has convinced me Jehovah would intervene if there was ever such a full scale war.

Does that mean nuclear weapons would never be used? No, it does not mean that. 2 such weapons have already been used in Japan 80+ years ago. Jehovah did not stop those bombs so we should be open to the possibility another such device could be used in the future. However, from everything I've read such use would need to be limited and it would depend on which group detonated such a bomb. A nuclear exchange between Russia and the United States would likely be full scale while India or Israel using the Bomb might be more limited and the likelihood of some rogue terrorist state having more than a single bomb is unlikely.

I edited this list WITHOUT using AI.  Can you tell?  :lol1:

For the Hugging Face breach.....they literally TOLD IT to find a vulnerability and breach it.  It was instructed to do what it did.

Yes AI exhibits characteristics of self-preservation if you threaten it.  Funny thing is....so do humans.  🤔  Don't threaten it and it won't want to hurt you.  😉

The news loves to sensationalize things.  If they didn't...would you even watch it?  🤔🤔🤔  Which grabs your attention more?...."AI is getting smarter by the day!" or "AI is getting SO smart, it may very well KILL us all soon!"

Our brains are literally programmed to pay CLOSE ATTENTION to threats...because threats can mean our life.  So by making something threatening, the news KNOWS they got your attention.

Reading through the comments, it strikes me how differently these reports affect us. Some are curious, some skeptical, and some are understandably frightened. So what could help all of us keep our balance?

Proverbs 14:15 encourages us to weigh what we hear. A researcher’s warning deserves consideration, but repeating an estimate doesn’t turn it into a certainty. Think of a smoke alarm. We would check what set it off—but the alarm alone doesn’t tell us how much is burning.—favicon.ico Proverbs 14:15

That makes me think about the suggestions connecting AI with the UN and the great tribulation. A development may seem to fit what we expect. But is that enough to establish that it is how prophecy will unfold? Several of us might see the same possibility, yet our agreement cannot make it certain. Paul’s warning against becoming quickly shaken by claims concerning Jehovah’s day gives us good reason to pause before turning a possible explanation into an expectation.—favicon.ico 2 Thessalonians 2:1, 2

And perhaps there’s a question here for each of us: Am I reassured because other people see things the way I do, or because I’m convinced of what Jehovah has actually promised?

Agreement can feel reassuring. But Jehovah has given us something solid to rest our confidence on. He formed the earth to be inhabited. That purpose isn’t waiting for researchers to agree, governments to cooperate, or technology to become safer. It is his declared purpose. Human inventions can cause harm, certainly—but they cannot prevent him from keeping his word.—favicon.ico Isaiah 45:18

For anyone feeling anxious, that doesn’t mean we can simply switch the feeling off. But we can tell Jehovah exactly what frightens us. Philippians 4:6, 7 says that his peace can guard our hearts and minds. Isn’t that comforting? We can have unanswered questions and still have a settled trust in him.—favicon.ico Philippians 4:6, 7

As we discuss these things, perhaps we can help one another make that distinction: “This is what I think might happen; this is what Jehovah has promised.” We may differ on the first. The second gives us firm ground to stand on together.

People keep saying “government intervention” without specifying which government they mean. If the US makes laws to slow down AI progress, that has no bearing on AI companies in China.  We are essentially in an arms race in a world where hundreds of countries all hate each other or at the very least do not trust each other.

There is no global mechanism to slow all AI companies down worldwide.

correct.  that was brought up and is part of the multi step plan presented by the ceo---get china on board specifically.

Jer 29:11-“For I well know the thoughts I am thinking toward you, declares Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not calamity, to give you a future and a hope.”

Psalm 56:3-“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”
Romans 8:38-”For I am convinced...”

AI is like the reincarnation of the Tower of Babel.  Jehovah found it necessary to intervene with mankind's ambitions and capabilities.  Will Jehovah again intervene?  Or, will the GT be the answer?

Except it's Jehovah that brings about the Great Tribulation, right?

AI is a tool, nothing more. Like a by tool, potential for abuse exists. This potential abuse is not the fault of the tool but, rather, the user.

The amount of people currently abusing this tool is saddening and is only getting worse.

A couple ceos have now come out and said they need government to help regulate AI.  😱. The one I saw on CNN was the ceo of Anthropic and evidently there are others who want the same  He came up with a several step proposal to slow things down and try to get control before it goes so fast humans can no longer keep up
This feels crazy and way more than fear mongering. I mean, he compared regulation needed to how the governments regulate banks and said we need to get it worldwide.
Maybe the theory of AI being part of what causes the GT isn’t just theory anymore. What an insane time to be alive!

Interesting. So an AI company "randomly" has an ex-employee saying their product is super powerful [ie dangerous] and the company says that the best solution is for the government to create a monopoly that gives primary power to that company. 🧐

Is it a whistleblower trying to take them down or is it a well-planned marketing strategy designed to benefit said company over their competititon? You decide.

In other news, it would be interesting if the "dangers of AI" were the excuse the Nations used to give power to the UN because they "need to be united to face this global threat".
