  1. No, I feel something is wrong for the prices to be that low.
  2. You can report it, if you want. Report a Fireball (amsmeteors.org)
  3. My thinking with canned food is it has water in it, so that can help with preventing dehydration. It's good to have a variety since we don't know what the emergency will be. If it's an earthquake we might stay in the backyard and eat canned food, if it's a fire we'd probably need to evacuate and lighter food would be easier to transport.
  4. Enjoyed it as well! I liked his point how though they're in a bubble now, living at the branch, they weren't for 30 years. And even living at the branch they still have to take time for their marriage.
  5. It's been a while since I lived in Alabama but I did experience tornado warnings and being stuck on the road while the sirens were going off. I never saw a tornado, though. Glad you made it through!
  6. My understanding is that the workers were sheltering in the restroom area. I don't know if it was large enough to accommodate them all, but that was probably the safest place they could have been. They probably don't have storm shelters at home, and it's not a good idea to be driving when a tornado warning is in effect. It's very easy to be caught in traffic and a car isn't a shelter.
  7. We lived in Tamaulipas for about 7 years, and left to come back to the US in 2016. We were in the English group in Ciudad Mante for a few of those years, until it was closed when the English was reorganized. We weren't exactly there for the need (my husband is from there), but we were glad to be able to be where the need was! We still miss the banana leaf tamales.
  8. We've mostly bought 2000-2010 cars/trucks for between $2,500-6,500. We've found Hyundai to be relatively cheaper and pretty reliable for our area. If you need a car, definitely pray about it, and be a little flexible. We feel Jehovah helped us find what we needed and could afford. If I'm looking at ads like on OfferUp, I try to look for detailed ads and discern if people are honest and took care of the maintenance. If they did, mileage might be a lesser factor. Also, you can get a car checked by a mechanic before you buy it-it costs money but it can save money in the end.
  9. There's a radio program that answers people's questions about English language usage and is fun to listen to. A Way with Words | Radio show and podcast about language and linguistics, with callers from all over (waywordradio.org)
  10. -audio books. They can be borrowed for free from a local library, the library's website or bought on Amazon and listened to on a phone or computer, some are on cd (audio can be more enjoyable and we hear the language patterns and pronunciation) -podcasts - I don't listen to them but here's a site with some Podcasts : NPR -online classes - they used to be free, some may still be depending if she wants a certificate, but it may be a good option depending what her local options are. Future Learn Exploring English: UK Culture and Language – Learn English – FutureLearn Coursera Top Writing Courses - Learn Writing Online | Coursera Edx Communication | edX -keep a journal, possible using a computer with Microsoft Word and Grammarly that can help with corrections
  11. In the anime video I was confused because of the "Eiffel Tower", while everything else pointed to Japan. But I looked on a map of Tokyo and there is a replica of the Eiffel Tower in Tokyo. That was interesting! Also, in the part about Philip, I recognized that the couple was in service, but it was filmed at Bethel in Mexico. Neat!
  12. Thanks, I really couldn't figure out what he was thinking. But that makes sense.
  13. I don't even know what he was trying to say. Was he trying to say the team they were about to play are not wimps? The article says, "attempted to say they were taking their matchup with the Florida Gators seriously..." but is that a typo that should have said they were not taking the matchup seriously?
  14. You know, it's stressful reading this and similar threads. I read through, see things that I know are not accurate and it starts to get on my nerves. Guess I better step back and take a breather.
  15. If the mask has the appropriate filter, wouldn't that protect the wearer? Theoretically, I'm breathing filtered air. I doubt it's fullproof, but I think it's beneficial for myself as well as others. It's another layer of protection.
  16. What wonderful news this was! There are some families from Eritrea in our congregation, and everyone was rejoicing at our meeting today.
  17. I thought these were amazing! I didn't know we had missionaries again, new ones, that is. So if single sisters can go to SKE, then they can be missionaries, too. (If I understood that right?) I think the three year assignment is a good idea. Wow, I'm still processing it.
  18. Being mild-tempered, wow, what a great quality! I need to work on that, and so does the world in general.
